very frustrated that eBay didn't roll out the "promoted listings standard" for auctions at the same time as buy it now items...small guys cannot compete with the big guys anymore i see...

Auctions are a small part of Ebay's business at this point in time.
Fixed price listings are going to get priority in any new function.
