Problems with a return situation....anyone have any suggestions?

Hello,

I am going a little crazy with a return situation as a seller and hoping someone might be able to help. I had a sale and sadly the item was badly damaged during shipping. It was a sad loss and the buyer and I worked out an agreement on a partial refund. Paypal had placed a hold on the payment, and I had already transferred it to my bank so I had to transfer it back, which I did.

The problem is that once the money got back in, it seemed to disappear. I tried to go back to my returns area to push through the partial refund amount we had agreed on, but it keeps giving me an error message when I hit the issue refund button. I ended up having to put the entire purchase price back in to Paypal, but should've received a small amount of it back and receive some of my final value fee back from Ebay. Neither has happened and it still shows that she sent me a refund request and gives me the option to issue the partial refund but it won't let me. I contacted Paypal already to find out where the money is. It seems impossible to be able to contact Ebay, so I have no idea what to do, here. They've already taken the entire amount she paid for the item and the entire final value fee out of my bank, but neither was supposed to happen.

Basically, I'm out the entire sold amount, final value fee, shipping and the buyer isn't returning the item. Can anyone help me in figuring out what to do? I am waiting for Paypal's response. So frustrated. Thanks!

ebay does not refund any of the FVF on a partial refund.  I believe Paypal has also stopped returning their processing fee of 2.9% + .30 on refunds and cancellations.

Paypal has a hold on the payment so it is available if a refund is required.

Start by finding out how much money left your bank on all of this.

So ebay also refunded???

I believe if they do it for you they keep the fees.

Sounds like a train wreck.

Full accounting from PP need to be done.

You do not know if the partial was done or not......

"The problem is that once the money got back in, it seemed to disappear."

Follow the money, it did not just disappear, it went somewhere.   Click on the activity link at the top of the Paypal summary page and look for that amount.  It's possible the buyer received a refund and that is why you are getting an error message when you try to refund again.

Hoping you Insured the Item so you can File a Claim with the Carrier..

for a Damaged item...They will often pay the Claim Without Requiring

the item to be Returned to Them or to You...You just need Photos

of the Damaged item...The USPS is good about claims..
