We received an email today on an item
"would buy this if you make the listing private"
This is just a generic type item - nothing that would make me think "private" listing.....it is however, well priced and if sold at that price, for us, very profitable.
Any reason as a Seller to "not" do a private listing? Do buyer who see that in a Seller's FB view that as a negative of some sort? Think a Seller is "hiding" something? Latest scam by a Buyer?
Sales are so slow, almost willing to try anything to move it along. Any reason for me not to? Is this a "thing"? In all our years selling - never had anyone ask to make a listing private and do not think we ever sold anything "private". Appreciate your insight(s). Thx

I Never had anyone ask for a private listing....not sure if this is even something that can be changed mid-auction or not.
I have had 2 or 3 buyers ask me not to leave feedback...which I found to be peculiar.
Only my Adult items are set to private for obvious reasons.

The person who asked me to not leave feedback had purchased a bottle of Spike seasoning. I had this image of a chef somewhere who didn't want anyone to know that this was his 'secret ingredient' in the bouillabaisse or whatever recipe for which he was famed. 😃

Boogers. Yes, I did the BBL after I replied to his request to have it set to private. It was a FP GTC, so I just edited the listing and then emailed him. 😞
Poop. 60 days would be a long time. At least he is BBL'd so he cannot buy anything. Not that his intent was to buy in the 1st place.

Just bang the Delete button whenever one of his messages comes in. No need to read them. After a while he'll get tired and move on.

Ha ha, nice one....reminds me of the Andy Griffith episode where everyone claimed the secret pasta sauce ingredient was oregano.

I've never been able to successfully block anyone from messaging me once the lines of communication were open. If I don't respond at all to a message and immediately place them on the BBL, then I never hear from them again. But I have buyers that I blocked over a year ago (or longer) who message me and ask why they're blocked or why they can't buy from me. Most recently, I received a message from a BBL member that said "I'm just wanting to know why you blackballed me". I happened to remember this dude because the experience was particularly loathsome, but it was a transaction from Christmas 2019 - he shouldn't have been able to message me.
This is especially frustrating if it's been 6 months or so since the interaction, and the message says something like "Hi I'm trying to buy this from you but it won't let me". Without access to previous messages or orders, I have no idea what the problem is and usually waste a ton of time before I realize what's going on. There's also been several who would've been recognizable, but they've since changed their member ID.
Blocked should mean BLOCKED.

Blocked should mean BLOCKED.
Agreed. This guy has sent 2 more emails today - "hope you can find time to get to me today"
Have no idea how people like this have the time to email persistently. Guess it is like the robo-calls - eventually, someone answers.
