Price too high notice

I am selling (6/18/20) two gold 1/20th oz gold coins ,BU condition, in sealed plastic) as a lot for $200. Ebay stated that price is too high, and I cannot edit listing without deleting and reposting. What gives!? ( Also out of almost 600 transactions, had 1 complaint.)

Price too high notice

EBay says the price is "too high" and removed the listing?

Or did they suggest that the coins would sell better /faster at a lower price?

EBay is constantly telling me my prices are too high, but is unable to show me similar items, never mind identical ones for comparison.

Sometimes they tell me my prices are too high and the comps are actually higher than my price (but that's unusual).

If you don't have any bidders on your Auction, but you do want to revise it, why not just take it down, make your changes, and then relist?  Your item then gets a tiny boost from being "newly listed" if you use Sell Similar, but keeps your Watchers (for what little that's worth) if you use Relist.

If you are selling two coins at 1/20th oz of gold for $200,  a quick search shows you well below the going price, not above it.

"Ebay stated that price is too high"

Can you explain exactly how you were notified of this?

Price too high notice

We often sell books in lots (sometimes large lots of dozens of books). We mark them as having multiple items in the sale. Yet, ebay likes to compare our lots to single books and tells us that we are overpriced.

This reduces our visibility and certainly costs us lots of sales and money. Very unfair. Taking cash right out of our pockets.

Not sure if this is the same issue as what is happening to you.

Why?

If your customer is Searching for "book lots" he isn't Searching for a specific title or edition surely?

If he is browsing by category (mystery, romance, science fiction) or author, then by Lowest Price, your lots are not going to be at the top of his list.

Personally, and I realize it is a very personal decision, I Search by title or author for books, so your assertion confuses me.

Would your sales go up if you were listing one book at a time?

Hmm. Did someone at eBay perhaps set eyes on your listing, and wants it for less? A couple of days ago, I would have laughed about such suggestion, but now...I really do not know what to believe.

Best of luck selling it

I don't do auctions but I get eBay telling me this on some of my fixed price listings.  Problem is, they don't have any real comparison for OOAK items so I just ignore it - the stuff sells.

Oddly, I haven't had any notices of this lately.  I thought they had dumped that program or maybe just indexed it to UPCs or something.

I would also just relist.

ebay has to pick and choose whose items  to show when someone searches. This is called Best Match. It's important to be one of the top ones or at least on the first page of results. Ebay can reduce an item's visibility for many reasons.

Most buyers do not search 'book lot' they search 'world war 2' or 'Abe Lincoln'. And yes, we would sell more if we sold the individual books but we wouldn't make any money as shipping and fees would eat up the price. We mostly only sell inexpensive books in lots.

Sometimes I wish ebay would do this for my competitors and say "Price too low".

How a seller decides to list and at what price is either a personal or business decision that affects only them. eBay has no business interfering in any way.
