Price Gouging

Do these sellers realize that price gouging is illegal? I mean, $1,000.00 for 1 ounce of USED hand sanitizer while our nation is facing virus that is killing people is not just wrong, it's illegal. Then there is the fact that as fast as eBay is taking them down they are slipping by, by relisting them time & time again. With the above mentioned item being used, it is potentially not safe anyways. I just don't get how these people are going out buying up as much as they can, keeping it out of the hands of those who fall in the at risk groups & then thinking they will get rich while people are at risk of dying! I just find it really sad that some go that low in our nation. I just really want to know why are these items still for sell on eBay & still being allowed to be posted?

They are NOT doing a great job! They need to ban the sale of ALL household cleaners right now. There are listings for $25-50 for single cans of Lysol!!! It’s absurd!

I've got to agree that they're not doing that great of a job.

I reported this listing quite a while ago.  The seller clearly knows it's not allowed (he put spaces between each of the letters of "Purell" to get by the easy searches).   He's already sold several other $100 bottles.

Then there's this guy who has sold over $600 worth of stuff just in the past few hours, and still has 14 more items up (all of which I've reported).

eBay also seems to gloss over reported items where the seller has said "Hand gel" or "Hand cleaner" even though the picture is CLEARLY of "Hand sanitizer". 

I've reported all of this guy's listings, except the dispensers only, and most of them are still there or already sold (he's made quite a bit of money already just this afternoon).

The hospitals would not be allowed to take them! It is against the law. They can only receive medical supplies through approved vendors where there every location has been documented. They aren’t even legally allowed to bring masks from home! Would you want your Dr. to tell you they just got their mask from eBay? I wouldn’t!

You're wrong about that, lisakpatton. Maybe some states, but many others are actively soliciting the general public for masks, and some are asking people to SEW them for them, even though fabric masks aren't N95, they're more like N60 at best.

And that's a fine looking toilet paper and Lysol and gloves that you're selling. And gee -- looks like you forgot to read the announcements, because you were selling hand sanitizer a week after eBay banned it.

Price gouging bar soap and disinfectant sprays and Ebay just lets it continue.  It is just sad that people are profiting off a pandemic. Why is this still happening is my question.

Report them as you find them.  Ebay is trying.  They have removed 10's of 1,000's of listings and they continue to work on this problem.  Help them by reporting them as you find them.

You can make your own hand sanitizer you said, Can you put the information to make my own? I saw Lysol disinfectant spray on Ebay for 4 19 ounce cans for about 200 bucks.

Just Google it.  You will find all kinds of them.  Just remember it needs to be at least 60% alcohol to be effective.  And make sure you get enough moisturizing ingredients in there so that you don't damage your skin.  That is really important too.  So Aloe would be an important ingredient.

And what about toilet paper?  Ebay needs to take action and view every single new listing and shut the listing down.  Just look at the prices and these people could care less.  Wait until the crisis is over and than you can sell all you want.

Report the listings when you see them.  That will help Ebay to find and close them.

Yes, what about toilet paper.  Why isn't ebay taking action even though multiple people have commented that they have reported the sellers.  ebay needs to get on top of this!

They are.  I know that for sure as some I reported on Monday are gone.  So make sure you report them for price gouging.

Check the Charmin Toilet Paper for many ridiculous prices and Yes, it's illegal.
