Possible return scam

Hello all, I am currently conflicted on a return request. All help is appreciated!

I had a glass pot delivered on 4/28 and today 5/1, I received a request for a refund. So about 5 day have passed by since it was delivered.

The buyer has said that the pot has arrived broken. Then in a second message they had wrote “see attached”.
Now before receiving the second message I had no problem sending a refund. I even contacted EBay and they said they couldn’t advise me on what to do.
From the photos that the buyer attached I can’t confirm it’s the same pot I sent.
But I also never received a message asking for “fragile” to be written on the box. I did ask USPS to stamp the box before shipment.

I feel like I could be getting scammed, I’m okay with a negative review but I also don’t want to be a rude seller.

How should I resolve this issue?

I forgot to mention that the box was not marked fragile. When I ordered this item from you I specifically asked that the box was marked fragile because I just had another one delivered and the box was not marked and it also arrived broken. Please let me know when my refund is available thank you

Possible return scam

Two choices.

Provide a return label and retund when it's returned.

Save yourself the cost of a return label and refund.

Possible return scam

Hi @anmel_9425

Nothing magical occurs to packages marked ‘Fragile’.  Suspecting a scam because the buyer didn’t ask you to write Fragile is grasping at straws.

@fab_finds4u told you what choices you have.  Don’t even think about fighting against the buyer’s request … as you don’t stand a chance of winning … only losing more than you would if you graciously accept the fact that buyer is entitled to a refund.

I’m very sorry this happened, but I’m afraid you’re stuck with having to refund … with or without a return.

Possible return scam

Nobody scams over a $20 pot. If buyer opens a return, accept it and either refund without customer shipping it back or you could wind up paying for the return shipping to get back a broken pot.

Since it's glass, I would simply ask the buyer for a picture and let them know it will save them time on shipping it back and they would get a refund quicker (after all, do you really want to pay for the shipping of a broken item?)

Refund if the photo looks correct and file your insurance claim. It's not necessary to put fragile on a package. AND some say it leads to a bit of 'extra' attention from postal employees--and not in a good way.

Actually putting 'Fragile' on a box costs more $$; as well as Insurance won't pay a penny for a 'glass item' that broke unless the buyer showed the carrier immediately- a 'destroyed' box upon delivery.

I had someone send me photos of item I sent. Claimed they were not perfect and wanted a refund.

I resent photos on my items and their photos and stated they are not the same.

Never heard from that buyer again and naturally blocked them.

@flyingpig

A few months back there was a similar post, similar situation.  One of the posters here replied with "Putting fragile on the parcel actually means...dropkick across the warehouse."  lol.
