Possible Feedback Extorsion

Hey everybody!

I was hoping to get some advice as I believe one of my buyers is looking for any reason to give me negative feedback. It started with the buyer messaging me about one of my items and if they could get it for a lower price. After informing them that there was no budging on the price (and being absolutely professional and courteous) they continued to message me, bringing up my 100% positive feedback score multiple times. The following day, the buyer messaged me 6 times in 2 hours while I was away from the office asking where I was, why I was not responding to messages, if I could alter the product to include different items, and again saying I need to lower the price. None of this is possible with this particular item and I have explained that to the user several times. After seeing this, I decided it was not worth my time and I decided to block the user (the user also has 0 feedback).

The next day, I see a purchase from a completely different user and think nothing of it, process the shipping and place it in the mail. The purchase happened after my last USPS pick-up, so it will have to be picked up the following day. An hour after the purchase is made, this buyer messages me. They demand to know why it was not shipped right then and there, and I explained that I have a one-day handling period and that they missed the cutoff for same-day shipping. The next message made me realize that it was the same user I had blocked the previous day. They started demanding that I change the shipping to 2-day Priority, and making comments that the package I just shipped should be at their location on Monday, no exceptions. I finally got fed up with trying to deal with them after numerous messages and said "Listen, the item has already been shipped First Class USPS. Have a nice day."

This account also has 0 feedback. I'm really just concerned this is going to bite me in the ass, as I have just become a Top Rated seller and I think this jerk is looking for any reason to ruin my reputation. I have reported this to eBay just to explain what was happening, but no response so far. Does anyone have any advice or similar experiences they care to share? I appreciate any and all information. Thank you!

Re: Possible Feedback Extorsion

We have had this happen to us. Open both messages in seperate windows. At the bottom of the messages it should read "Get to Know XYZ Buyer" and give the city/state. If both are the same city and state call Ebay US based ONLY and let them know ASAP!!

Re: Possible Feedback Extorsion

Greetings,

Sorry about your problem. I have had this issue also. I contacted ebay and advised them of the issue and my concerns. They noted it in my account, per representative. I must say your buyer seems a bit more demanding than mine.

If the buyer were to contact me after the item arrived I would IMMEADIATLY open a complaint on the BUYER. That will freeze their ability for both of us to leave feedback. I WOULD NOT warn or complain to the buyer.

If the buyer attempted to contact me to resolve the issue I would advised them that I have already contacted ebay and am abiding by their decisions. Who knows why they are behaving in this manner. I do not assume they are good or bad. I just put it in ebays hands.

If they are a scammer, my guess is they would just vanish after I advised they have already been turned into ebay.

I would again call ebay with an update and ask how to proceed. Again, they have always been helpful.

As a side bar I would review my listing and make sure there is nothing confusing in my listing. I would be SELF critical. We all have made errors.

I have done this twice and nothing has come of it. Ebay rep's appeared to be receptive to my issue.  They assured me NO negative feedback could be left. I must say they asked quite a few questions, looked at our messages back and forth, but I felt good that they reviewed the messages.

Hope this helps a bit, Take care

Regarding the text in red ... really?  I had never heard of this.  Where are you getting this from?

What kind of complaint?  And how would you open it?

Re: Possible Feedback Extorsion

Greetings,

The source is that I did it. When I clicked, report a buyer link. It directs me for the item number in question. I then called ebay, they were the source who advised me of the fact they could not leave feedback on an open case. To be honest, not sure if that is true or not but it worked out for me on two occasions.

Regards

Re: Possible Feedback Extorsion

Grretings,

First go to the item in question.

Second go to drop down arrow and locate report buyer.

Third pick the best option for your complaint.

Fourth, I call ebay and start a trail of evidence based statement that are recorded on the transaction directly to ebay reps. They record and document the calls. This step will help me down the line if the problem escalates. Not ONCE did ebay not support me, The gave me a case number to refer4 to in the future and stated they could not leave negative feedback on me because I did nothing wrong.

Don't get me wrong, I had to show evidence to support my claim. They did not willie nilley agree with me.

Re: Possible Feedback Extorsion

After the first paragraph you should have called ebay and told them that a blocked bidder had come back and bougth somethihng (you think) under another name.

ebay could cancel the sale, ban both names and you'd be happy.

Re: Possible Feedback Extorsion

I have never heard  that Report a Buyer blocks the buyer's ability to leave feedback for the seller.    I do not believe that is true.

Re: Possible Feedback Extorsion

Give Ebay a heads up call on these two user accounts and let them review the messages to see if the accounts are related in any way. The rep can then clearly see the demanding tone in both messages. If they do something fishy once they get the item, call Ebay again and go over the next round of unpleasantness, with them. Hopefully, they are now tired of being unpleasant. LOL.

Re: Possible Feedback Extorsion

Greetings,

I want to be clear, I am referring to opening a complaint on a buyer on a ACTIVE OPEN AUCTION, ebay rep assured me neither party can leave feedback, good or bad. Now after the case is closed they might be able to, that I do not know.

Take care.
