Poorly worded ad

First time seller on E-Bay.  I listed two tickets for sale for a specific price but meant to sell tickets separtely not both for the price I listed, but I did not say "each ticket".  Buyer has paid through PayPal but deal has not been finalized, I have not taken any of his funds.  Am I obligated to sell both tickets together for that price, or can I refuse and withdraw the ad or simply tell the buyer I made a mistake and tell  him to take all of his funds back?  Concert does not occur until July.  Thoughts?

Doesn't look like a "Poorly worded ad" to me.

I would expect to receive two (2) tickets.

What does "deal has not been finalized" mean?

The buyer has paid & now you ship.

You can tell the buyer you made a mistake & cancel.

I know what my reaction would be & it would make a mess of your feedback.

eBay will also be displeased & gift you a defect.

I know there is big money involved here but that is all the more reason to be vigilant when you list.

Anyhoo those are my thoughts.

As an new seller do you also realize your funds will be held until tracking shows delivery?

If these are not physical tickets then there may be more twists.

No doubt others will be along to offer advice.

Listing says Pickup only so no shipping involved. Buyer pays with PayPal, picks up tickets and then claims they didn't get them and seller has no delivery confirmation to prove delivery.

Cancal, take the defect, do not sell on eBay again, ever.  Sell them through Stubhub or that list of Craig's

Title is clear for 2 tickets.

The poorly worded part is that there is no mention of what the show is like the others that appear from other sellers.

I have to agree with what the other said, your listing advertises TWO tickets, even in the drop down of tickets it states 2........If you cancel the transaction, you will receive a defect along with negative feedback from the buyer. Only way to really handle this situation is complete the sale as you have it listed. Mighty big loss I agree but as a seller you have to know and describe exactly what it is that the buyer is getting.

Listing says two tickets.

OP, you should do some reading around here about scams that happen to new sellers.  I know what I am doing and would never - ever list those tickets on ebay.

Refund the buyer and take the defect and read about the risks of your item and get a lot more selling feedback before you list an item worth more than $35 on ebay.

And enjoy the concert.

Enjoy? Last time I heard Stevie Nicks, I thought I was hearing George Burns.

You are obligated to sell and you can also cancel. Each action will have ramifications. You did take his payment when he paid with paypal.

If you were intending to sell 2 tickets for a $9000 total or $4500 each, I would guess that you wouldn't lose money as to your original purchase price. Even selling 2 for $4500 probably results in a good profit to you. But I am just guessing.

But supposedly PP buyer protection doesn't cover pick up only items.

I have a solution for you.

Collect the money and give the buyer the tickets.

Then ask them to take you to the concert with them! There. Solved.

Someone pointed out to me that the OP owes ebay FVFs whether they canel the transaction or deliver the tickets.

OP if you didn't get them in on a listing special, you owe ebay around $450.

There is no buyer protection for Item Not Recieved on a Local Pick-Up transaction. Not from eBay and not from PayPal.

It's a long standing discussion board myth that what you describe can actually happen. While it may be possible for a buyer to open an INR claim they can't possibly win unless the seller simply fails to respond.

I never do local pickups but it did happen to a friend of mine. She sold a saddle to someone who paid with PayPal and picked it up from her instead of having her ship it. They complained to PayPal and got their money back. This was awhile ago so maybe it has now changed. She did get her money because she went to the people's house and got it!

A seller doesn't need proof of delivery on a pickup only item.
