Wondering how others feel about the format of eBay listings. In particular, the placement of promoted items. Don't misunderstand, I have promoted listings and they would be right there with the others so that's fair enough. But is it really fair to put the promoted listings in the middle of the existing one? It's like being interrupted while you are speaking; only worse. It is more akin to, perhaps, a car salesman. The salesman has an interested party and has started the spiel, given the basic relevant details, and as he is talking several other salesmen come up and start giving the potential buyer other options. If the first salesman has finished his pitch and the potential buyer says, "thank you but I'm going to look around a bit more," then the potential buyer may be fair game to the others. But, is there not a sense of unfairness if the original salesman didn't get to finish? For many, the Item Description block is a very important part of their listing. I am not saying the inclusion of the promoted listings isn't fair, just that it seems like the seller should be able to finish their spiel before the other options come in to view. Greater minds than mine have determined that overall sales increase with the present format. Not for any particular seller but for the company. Again, not saying that promoted listings aren't fair across the board but, for the individual seller, they may see more sales if the promoted listings were at the bottom of their listing. I would like to hear other's opinion about this and I would especially like to hear of anyone who has had a return for Item Not as Described when a full and fair description was given in the Item Specifics block.

Ebay places listings where they wish. Sellers pay the promotion to have the listing inserted where ever gets them the sale.
Ebay policy works the same for everyone....so they say.
Good luck.

The promoted placement under other sellers listings can be a fantastic way to make a sale with your offerings. You see, it puts your item in competition with others who at times have their price so bloated inflated that YOU can look at these and be the best there is. It can be a REAL winner.

Also, don’t worry about the sellers with the bloated prices. They wont sell.

I have 3/4 of my listings promoted. In a not so saturated product. It works well because our prices are extremely competitive. PRICE always wins in most cases, So promote with that in mind, and promote at a level commensurate with the cost of the goods to you.

IDK, when I go to buy a car I usually determine the price first, then I go into the specifics.

You gotta catch the buyers attention fast, not have them spend another 3 minutes reading a description. Clever marketing tactic.

Catching the buyers attention, especially on a small cell phone is even more difficult when they have to be forced to read through a long description.
