So I complete a listing and post my auction or BIN. My pictures are almost all 1600x1200(ebay image uploader). Whenever I click on any of my listings in any browser or on any computer, the main presentation image in the listing is about half of the size it should be on the page. Only when I reload the page does the image present in it's correct size. This is frustrating because I know customers are clicking on my items (lots of art) and not seeing a large vibrant image of the item in question. I don't think it would occur to most people to refresh. This has to be hurting me.

Does anyone else have this issue? Is there a solution?

When I check properties on the first image of Riddler button, I see 860px x 645px and 356KB. Penguin is similar size and weight.

Not sure why you're uploading such large images that are probably being resized/processed.   They seem to be cutting them by about half.

Try a few at 800 x 600 and about 100K and see what happens.

OK kids, time to get the Dodge loaded up again. I hear 'Poppy's By the Tree' calling. This trip might be a long one too.

Ebay recommends AT LEAST 1600p on the largest side. I am doing exactly what they recommend in fear that doing less will hurt my search.

I have this issue too when listing. The first time a listing is viewed, eBay gather information on your display and its capabilities. If you click refresh, eBay can now show the largest picture possible for your display size. So typically, it will show a 300 pixel size for the photo, then refresh will show a 500 pixel photo. Listing information to the right of the photo will also move around into different locations on the screen.

A buyer will be browsing many listings and the display size will be know by eBay from early on so your images will display at the best size for them. Buyers will not see this.

eBayers who replied to this forum will also have their display capabilities know by eBay because they have been logged in for a while. So they will see nothing wrong with your photos. They will be optimized to the capabilities of their displays. Some may see 300,400,500 or more pixels sized photos depending on their displays.

What I do not understand is why you say it happens to you all the time. It should not happen every time, just sometimes on a new listing. I do find that strange. Are you blocking cookies? I think eBay stores the display capabilities in a browser session cookie to use once the capabilites are known.

The eBay recommendation of 1600 pixels is really really stoopid!

The image files are HUGE and load very slowly if at all.  That will hurt your sales for sure because people won't be able to see your product.  Huge, unmanageable images do not help search or create a good buyer experience.

The maximum size I upload is 640x480, although most of my photos are cropped smaller.  If I really want the mouse-over feature, I shoot a step higher and crop or resize to 800 pixels. Furthermore, while I upload images to eBay as required, I also place them within the item description, where they are actually larger than the visible eBay gallery photos and do not require clicking on thumbnail images one at a time.

As a buyer, I find it very frustrating to be faced with HUGE image files that don't load and thumbnail images that don't open.  They cause me to shop elsewhere.

640x480 is small.

Do you mind if I ask if you have cable internet or old slow dial-up?

Thanks,
