I don't think it should be allowed to sell damaged electronics on ebay at all. I bought a cell phone from a seller and found it defected when I started using it plus the description was false. The seller put new and it was used not new. Someone else's phone number account was already with backup assistant on this Pantech phone this seller sold and there is no way to erase it and even factory reset doesn't do the job. We should all remember that when selling on ebay it's important not to sell damaged electronics or anything damaged for that matter

ebay does not know true item condition as ebay does not have item in their possession. They offer buyer protection to mitigate that

Have you read Ebays MBG that was mentioned in the listing?
If the item wasn't as described, file an INAD to get your money back.

I beg to differ.
If I want to fix my toaster or lamp or whatever, I come to eBay to find broken ones to use for parts.
In fact - the very first item ever listed and sold on eBay was a broken laser pointer. Broken things are what started eBay.
But read ads fully before buying. If the ad is incomplete in your view, or it does not leave you with a feeling of confidence, then buy from another vendor.
I wish you well, and happy shopping!

Uh-huh. What's the opening bid on a broken seller?

So true.
A lot of people come here to find parts for fixing their item.
I occasionally sell a vintage audio component just for that purpose. I'm not going to throw it out knowing there's people who will buy it for the parts, or to repair what they buy.
I'm about to list a group of vacuum tubes that don't work. People buy duds to use as display pieces.

Yep. I found the dial face for my 1941 Firestone Air Chief Diplomat right here on Ebay. Of course, the face was part of the entire radio, which was sold for parts/not working. Tubes were all good but the cord was very badly frayed and it had a not so good repaint job. Now I have a good parts radio for mine should something go bad. I think most everything on it is still good but I never replaced the cord to really test it.
So yeah...Ebay is a GREAT place to find parts.

This broken seller starts at 1/2 a million - lol

Sellers lie on all sites, it’s not limited to eBay. At least if you buy here, you are completely protected from items not as described.

Seems to have worked out great for this seller that started it all by selling a broken laser pointer!

Maybe buyers shouldn't buy cheap listed as 'for parts/damaged" goods here hoping they "got a deal" and it will actually work?
Just a thought.
