What do you do when your offended by someone lieing in their description and you know for sure cause u have same item ... this seller ... is leing in the description on his flamethrower cause I just sold mine and it had much more use he said he used for 21 seconds and the tip of the flamethrower shows he used it like crazy amount I used mine a lot a lot and doesn't look like his mine looks new he is clearly lieing I called him out told him to delete that part of description he got offense then became hostile and harassed me before I sent him one message calling him out...how do you report these people for lieing again I sold my flamethrower yesterday so I'm only doing this to protect everyone that's bidding on it it's wrong and it's why civilization will eventually fail...how do I report this seller or should I bid on it win and then te eBay it's been used more and sue or whatever what do you do in this case? Plz plz help me protect the buyers on eBay from sellers like this

@tm_us_makb0eb There is nothing you can do here. This is an online platform where people sell used items. Those who choose to purchase know that they are buying items from perfect strangers across the country. There is an inherent risk involved. Anyone can report a listing, there is a button on each to do so, that's all you can do. Writing to the seller is pointless and of course they will become hostile to you, again a perfect stranger to them. Exaggeration on a listing for a used item will not bring about the end of civilization. Best of luck to you....

Good luck with that.
To be honest there is not much you or eBay can do. Inaccurate description of a item is a constant problem since eBay begun. This is why eBay offers Money Back Guarantee.
The seller is the one who will loose if the buyer wants to return a item.

What do you do when your offended by someone lieing in their description
You mind your own business.
you know for sure cause u have same item
it is incredibly presumptuous of you to claim better knowledge of someone else's item.
I called him out told him to delete that part of description he got offense then became hostile and harassed me
IMHO You harassed him first. You have no business confronting another seller and telling him how to list his item.
how do I report this seller
You have absolutely no basis for reporting this seller.
should I bid on it win and then te eBay it's been used more and sue or whatever
Malicious bidding is also against eBay policy. It may even be against the law.
Plz plz help me protect the buyers on eBay from sellers like this
It is not your job to "protect the buyers" on eBay, and I think you need to stay in your lane.

Why would I be "Offended" by someone lying in the description? You stay of it, any issues would be between the buyer and the seller. You need a hobby for all of this extra time you have or perhaps you could do volunteer work for a non profit.

Not your problem. MYOB

I agree with all of your counter points. I get sick and tired of people telling me how to sell, etc. If you want to run a business, then have at it, start your own. But I will run my business as I see fit from my 45 years of doing it. One of the main problems in today's society is too many busy bodies wanting to create drama and confrontation. I love the saying - "Stay in your lane." Mind your own business. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just keep it to yourself. Thanks for your reply post.

eBay works on the age old adage "Caveat emptor" (buyer beware).
It can be frustrating, trying to police eBay's auctions, and as you discovered, not always appreciated. Going to the seller unsolicited isn't always the best approach, It may be better to discuss it in forums like this, or places were buyers might congregate. I am unsure if there's a reddit sub for flamethrowers, but they might appreciate a tutorial on what to look for when purchasing a used flamethrower on line.

Since it appears you are new to eBay I would highly recommend you learn some of the policies and rules in doing business here as a seller or buyer. Second of all, you are not an eBay hall monitor. You are entitled to your opinion, just keep it to yourself. Most sellers work very hard to make this venue a fair and nice place to do business with. I know I do. And lastly, plz stop with the idol threats of suing. With any auction venue the old adage remains true today. Buyer beware. Not others beware for other buyers. Just buyer beware. Nobody needs saving here and it is not anyone but each and every individual to protect and educate themselves in what they sell and buy. Have a good day.

Just curious, but what type or Recreational Use would a person use the Not A Flamethrower for?
02-27-2021 08:34 PM
I am offended by your choice of item to sell. It is a flamethrower that looks like a gun with its rifle-style stock and pistol grip. It is a dangerous weapon in my opinion. It promotes and glorifies violence which is tearing the very fabric of society.
I am offended by your description that assures the buyer that they can buy this $500 item for a mere $1800 and resell it for $10,000 later on. Greed will be the downfall of civilization.
I am offended by your forum violation when you named and shamed the rival seller.
I am offended by your suggestion you should bid on and win the other guy’s flamethrower in an effort to hurt a fellow seller.
In fact i am offended by your entire post.
Since i am concerned about your content, should i invite fellow posters to join me in protecting other eBayers from your selling activity? Should you be silenced because i find your opinion objectionable? Do i have a right to interfere in your business? What makes me the arbiter of what you do on eBay?

I am offended by the knowledge that there are crazy people like this running around who own flame throwers.
