We celebrate it here in Hawaii.
I'm not sure if it gets much attention elsewhere.

Celebrate? What is to celebrate? Maybe just Observe and Remember? WOW

To all we lost, we remember...

That's what I meant.

Yes. That is what the word celebrate can mean as well.

And I'm sure in Hawaii this was a lot closer to home for them, so I think they do honor it a bit more.
But please be respectful, it's a day of remembrance for a lot of people who are no longer alive.

As a kid I used to paddle in the Pearl Harbor Annual Race. I think we took second in my division. One day the tide was really low in the harbor and we got close enough to where I touched the scagg of the ship, as part of it was sticking up out of the water. It vibrated when I touched it. So surreal. Good memories from back home. Mahalo for sharing...always.
Hut ho...

In Baltimore one of the surviving ships named after "Taney" no longer gets remembered by it's name. Seem he had something to do with slavery I believe. So the name is taboo, but at least they talk about it some. Some survivors are honored locally also on board the ship.

Here in San Diego, there's usually a mention of it on the local evening news. There was a very active group of Pearl Harbor Veterans here, but as the year go along, the group gets smaller and smaller. I don't know if there's anybody left alive now.
My own parents, both 21 at the time of the Pearl Harbor attack, have both passed on. They would be 102 now if still living.

I know it does in Arizona. I grew up there and always remember there being lots of ceremonies and remembrances. There is now a very cool memorial gardens in Scottsdale.

There has always been a mention and usually interviews with some of the survivors of that day (on the LA CA news). The various Networks- National News tonight will also have a story on it.

The picture I posted above is of the USS Arizona when it was hit, btw.
In this Dec. 7, 1941 file photo, smoke rises from the battleship USS Arizona as it sinks during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Big article in today's local paper (Nevada) about a local resident 101 year old survivor of the USS Arizona. Front page above the fold.

I believe there are a few known survivors from the Pearl Harbor attack. My friend went to a ceremony there a few years back at the Memorial and had her picture taken with with one of them. He was in is 90's at that time.

Yes I think there are only a few Pearl Harbor survivors still alive.
I love when they attend the yearly ceremony here.
Especially the stories where their trip here is covered by donations.
