Payouts Delayed

Received email from Ebay saying funds were sent yesterday in amount of $90.51 to my bank. I bank with Chime.

The deposit always comes in by 915am (last 7 deposits) daily. Today it did not come in as of 6pm. My bank (chime) confirmed they have not received anything and are not processing or holding any deposits. Ebay customer service tells me it has in fact been sent and that i need to call my bank, essentially putting me in this back and forth with no resolution. The reference ID for the payout is useless as my bank had no way of looking up that number. When I ask what happened today, why is there a delay compared to last 7+ deposits, again ebay support has no answer, just told me it was ‘sent’.

Electronic communication including EFT are instant and with all the technology and upgrades it is ridiculous that the one thing that matters most for sellers they cannot iron out.  Ebay still can’t track the transaction all the way through. As much money as it costs in advertising and selling fees, the least ebay could do is provide transparency in the payout process. This is unacceptable.

Just because EFT's are "instant," it doesn't mean the funds are available to you "instantly."  Haven't you ever gotten an email in your inbox at 10:00pm that someone sent you at 7:00am that morning?

By the way, Chime isn't a bank, it's a financial technology company which provides mobile banking services that are provided by The Bancorp Bank or Stride Bank.  So maybe you need to talk to the actual bank(s) behind this outfit.

I got a message today from eBay that I needed to provide my Social Security number for the IRS or they weren't going to send my funds. So maybe it's something like that.

Although I appreciate the enthusiasm in your response, it doesn’t help address the issue or even begin to address it. You are basically telling me to stop complaining.

Perhaps my terminology is off a bit and I apologize for that. However, for over 7 deposits in a row they arrive at the exact same time, then all of a sudden it is delayed by over over 9 hours and counting. It is very reasonable to ask why and request transparency in all the payment transactions all the way through.

When the layout is sent it has a reference ID. Instantly ebay receives a acknowledgment which also has a ref ID. The acknowledgment ref ID is not provided. The meta data in that file contains a ton of info including whether the deposit was accepted. This can easily be mapped as a new field in the Payout screen and data provided or at the least support should have access to this info so they can trace where the delay is coming from.

How about contributing something helpful? I would really appreciate that as opposed to the entirely emotional and unhelpful response. When one pays close to 25% of the total sale in fees to sell something, it is reasonable to ask for a quality product. Both app and website is way clunky, buggy, and seriously behind the times compared to other selling apps out there.

Thanks for the suggestion, I provided my SSN and did the whole verification process sometime ago so it definitely isn’t the issue. I specifically asked support about it and they said there was no problem or delay, that the funds were just ‘sent’.

This probably does not contribute anything helpful, but it does not contribute anything harmful.

How much do you want to bet it will be shown in your account TOMORROW at 9:15 am?

FYI my payment sent yesterday, to my Chase account, is still pending today.

Ebay sends funds through federal reserve, if your money didn't get to you then it wasn't released by the reserve yet. Usually the transfer does take 24 hrs for most banks but ebay even tells you can take up to 3 days or more to receive payout.
