How long should I wait for payment for an item I sold?

@smithco706

Buyers get 4 days to pay.   If they don't pay by day 5, cancel the sale citing non-payment and then block that buyer from further annoying you.  The buyer will receive a strike.

If it's for the guitar, you can cancel now as it's been more than 5 days.  Make sure to relist and think about just a fixed buy it now price with immediate payment required and no best offers.  That way you'll get more serious buyers for that nice guitar.

Happy Selling.

Re: Payment

Hey @smithco706 . Check this page for information about handling unpaid items, including how to enable the auto-cancel settings if you don't want to babysit non-payers in the future.

As ckimo said, you can cancel now as long as you didn't send an invoice within the past 4 days. Sending an invoice resets the payment clock.

Re: Payment

4 days and 1 minute is my limit. Do NOT send an invoice because the clock resets and the buyer gets an additional 4 days to pay. This is a very dumb move on ebay's part.  As soon as you can cancel, go ahead and cancel. There is an option to relist the item too at the same time. So if you want it to list at night for example, then wait until the time that you want the item to restart.

The buyer knows that they they need to pay. No need to remind them. They see an email every morning when they open ebay.  On a tablet, there is a red dot indicating that you paid, you sold something or you got an email.  They know.
