Payment on hold for almost a month

Bare with me, I'm brand new to all this.

So this is my second item that I've sold, and the first one went off without a hitch. I'm brand new to Ebay and I'm concerned that I may have possibly gotten scammed?

I sold an item to this guy, but due to shipping complications (United States only) I had to refund the guy and relist the item so he could rebuy it with the fixed shipping. I don't know if this is some elaborate scam or if I messed up, or if it's on Ebay, but now on my selling page There are two of the same items in my history, one for the item I refunded, and one for the item that he bought and I shipped.  The one I refunded still says "Buyer paid", and the one I shipped says "delivered". I think maybe because it's the same guy and we repeated the purchase right after the other that Ebay thinks that the one that still says "Buyer paid" is the active order, thus holding my funds until it gets delivered. But it's never going to get delivered because the other active order did. Or maybe it just takes a month for me to get paid?

Every time I try to contact support I get "No active agents available", so I figured this is my next best option.

Thanks!

How did you issue the refund? If it was through the transaction, it wouldn't say that the buyer paid, thus expecting you to ship.

You can try to contact ebay live chat/call 9.00 AM to 9.00 PM. Or you can leave a mail to ebay, they will help you to solve the issue. Click help and contact.

I'm not clear your question so far. If you issue the refund, It'll be debited from your account.  Thanks

I issued a refund through ebay, the guy bought the item, but because of the shipping issue I had to refund it. Also when I view my payment that is on hold, it says "awaiting delivery" but when I click to ship now and go to the shipping screen it says "You don't have any items to ship". Probably because it recognizes that I refunded the first order? I'm starting to think that my Ebay just bugged out.

So on "My eBay selling Overview" I see the header "Leave feedback" under which three of the same items. 2 of which I refunded, both of them having three checkmarks with the "Buyer paid" one green. The last one is the order that went through successfully and and was delivered, and the one I'm still waiting for payment. I think that because the last two orders are pretty much identical except for the changed dimensions for shipping, it might of caused eBay to tweak out and get the two mixed up, maybe they think that the one I refunded is the active order, and the one that delivered is the refunded order? I know, pretty confusing. I guess I didn't really have a question and was just hoping that someone with some more experience could try and clear things up. I would've thought that refunded orders would've disappeared from your selling page, but maybe not?

Also I just recently saw that it says my funds should be available on the 27th. is that a message that is telling me when eBay will release my funds because I'm a new seller and that everything is good?  or is it like a worse case scenario type message that they display to account for any type of delays in shipping. After the 27th will the funds either be in my account, or otherwise just be forgotten and gone?

Oh, and I didn't realize that the live chat was a local time thing.

Thanks.

Is refunding different from cancelling? I would've thought that when you refund an order you are inherently cancelling it.

It's different - refunding without a cancellation can get you an out of stock defect. If you're working out a shipping issue with a buyer then you need to cancel using the reason problem with address. When you cancel the system will automatically refund.

It sounds like this is a standard new seller payment hold which will be released on the 27th per the message you're seeing.

eBay's system would not mix up the status of the 3 orders like you suggested. As long as you uploaded tracking to the correct order then you should be fine. It's impossible to say more without seeing your orders page. If you want to post a screenshot of the 3 orders, blocking out your buyer's info, we can offer more concrete advice.

Thanks for the help,

This first screenshot is the order that I refunded, it has the same order number as payment hold. Why is there any money on hold for this order if I refunded it? I tried cancelling it but it won't let me because it's already been refunded. Is there no way to discard the order?

Refunded orderRefunded orderThis screenshot is the order that I delivered, and even though it says it's complete and the funds are available, I've never received them, This same order number is seen on my transactions page under "Available" but that has been there since October 4th, and I've never received any money.yeye.png

I'm not confused on the third order because there is no payment on hold for it because I refunded it. The first screenshot is different to the third order because even after I refunded it, it appears to me that eBay is still treating it as an active order.

@jaeric_9311

Yes, there's a big difference. You're close, but backwards... when you cancel  an order, you are inherently refunding  it.

What do you see when you click on the 'More actions' drop-down menu? (Shown in your first screenshot?)

Yes, refunding is different then canceling the order.

You need to cancel the first order and use a problem with buyers address as the reason.

Have a great day.
