Re: Payment holds

Because you're a new seller there will be eBay and or PayPal holds this is standard for new sellers till new sellers hit a certain level of trust with selling on eBay.

Yes it is unfortunate that bills are the way of life for most people.  You aren't the only one that has to deal with them.  Most of us have the same issues as far as that goes.

It is a bit hard to help you without knowing more about your selling account.  Did you get into some account issues due to selling issues with buyers?  Or are you a new seller?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'll assume you are a new seller.  Anyone that comes here to sell really should do their homework FIRST and learn the basics of selling.  It will make you a better seller and help you to not have some nasty surprises that can cause you issues that may be difficult to resolve.  It also may same you real money.

So with that in mind.  Here is some  homework.  The first link is about your money, so that should peek your interest.  Come on back and ask questions after you have read through both links.  We would be happy to assist you.

Re: Payment holds

There are restrictions on new sellers , some of them Buyer Protections, some of them Seller Protections.

If you have a Hold on your customer's payment, you can still buy a shipping label through Paypal with the Held funds. Remember to buy tracking.

This also allows you to confirm that the buyer really has paid. Which is also a Seller Protection.

Payment holds are a security measure. They help eBay insure the seller is legitimate and that the item is received by the buyer as expected. The criminal element could put up phony listings of items they don't have. They do not intend to sell but to defraud the buying public, by pocketing the payments and then skipping town, mailing nothing.

Re: Payment holds

I sold an item that was listed as Buy It Now or Best Offer. Sale included free economy shipping. Customer made an offer & I accepted it. I tried 3 times to send an invoice but couldn't. Next day customer asked for priority shipping & I responded (as e-bay said was allowed for upgraded shipping) that I chose economy due to what I felt was very high price for Priority mail. (19.95 & 50.00) I gave info to buyer who responded he calculated a fee of 27.80 for priority. I explained the box the item fit in was 20 X 8 X 14 & price was the dimensional price the USPS gave me. E-bay discounted price was 42.20. After a few messages were exchanged buyer agreed to upgraded shipping & asked for an updated invoice.(which SAID it was sent successfully) The next morning I got a message from e-bay saying item was sold. I tried to print shipping label & was instructed to make a one time payment & it wouldn't accept it. Then I got an email from pay-pal saying e-bay placed a hold on the account so I called. After explaining several times that I had issues with sending invoices & shipping labels I was instructed to make a one time payment with pay-pal that would have to be paid FROM MY CHECKING ACCOUNT. So I made the payment & while still on the phone printed the shipping label. Next I got an email from the buyer asking if I was able to send an updated invoice ??? I assumed he got the one I send because he had paid through pay-pal. I ALWAYS ship directly from the post office as I am confident the correct weight & price are given & get receipt with time & tracking & expected delivery. This time because of the high amount I decided to go with e-bay but decided to then go to the post office to be sure weight & charges were correct. I went out of my way to the location listed on USPS website that indicated the cutoff time the package had to be there by for Priority Mail & Money Back Guarantee. The location I was sent to DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A WINDOW for stamps or other products & believe it or not NO SCALE. So then I'm told there is NO GUARANTEE for priority mail just for EXPRESS PRIORITY. So, I'm at their mercy & not happy. Item has been shipped & has tracking info & I notified buyer. I've been buying & selling with e-bay since 2003 with 100% feedback & above standard status. I seem to have issues every time over the last 4 years or so with one thing or another. Guess I'm getting too old for this.
