Payment bring processed

I sold an item today and eBay have said it’s been paid for so I should ship. However, the funds are not showing in my account and it’s saying they are being processed.  Now I’m not sure how I’m supposed to to risk sending an item with a fairy decent value, without being paid first. Supposing there is a problem with processing the buyers funds. Then what?  It’s not like eBay will honour the payment if something goes wrong.
i was going to contact the buyer and let them know I will ship as soon as funds are processed. Has anyone got any experience of this. I’m not a business, I just sell personal stuff so I can buy more stuff. It’s all getting too complicated.

There is NEVER a problem with 'processing' funds'. It's no different than when you use a credit/debit card at Walmart- Walmart has been 'paid' and your bank will say 'pending' but it still has to be "processed" before Walmart actually gets the $$ in their bank.

Whatever you do, do NOT wait to ship within your stated 'handling' time or you will find yourself not having to worry about selling on this site ever again.

Ship it out.

Processing is quite normal of funds.

Nothing on "hold" in 'processing funds'?...You are fine.

Item must be shipped within 'your timeframe' as stated in the sold item whether you get the funds or not.

Sometimes it takes money to make money.

I only contact buyer that it has been shipped...with a photo of package with postage on it if it is an expensive item being shipped.

There will not be a problem with processing buyers funds, because if so the payment would have been rejected out of hand - the payment has been issued ("approved") and is now being processed and will be credited to your account. This is not complicated if you think of it as the same process for when you purchase anything with debit or credit card. When your payment is approved, you pick up your groceries and take them home, but the payment is processing and will drop into the store's account in a few days.

Just go ahead and ship.

As the other posters have stated --

Go Ahead and Ship The Item to The Buyer.

On eBay, the situation you described is the norm.  It sounds like every step of this transaction was done on eBay.  The buyer paid through eBay.  eBay notified you that the buyer paid.  eBay will process those funds.  eBay provided you with the buyer's mailing address.  And eBay told you to ship the item.

Yes, eBay will process the buyer's payment and eBay will honor that payment.
Millions, if not merely thousands, of transactions take place on eBay every single day, and eBay routinely sends payouts from those transactions to sellers.  Completely normal.  Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

What you do need to know is that, IF this is your first eBay sale, eBay will hold your payout for as much as 30 days.  Especially when the item had a fairly decent value.  This is done to protect the buyer and eBay itself.  Some sellers do not have your level of integrity, and eBay has no idea which new sellers are crooks and which are honest.

Holding your payout for 30 days gives the buyer time to receive the item and make sure it is what he purchased and not a box of bricks or rocks.  eBay allows that time to make sure the buyer doesn't file a Not As Described (NAD) complaint.  If the buyer does file a NAD, eBay can refund that buyer from the funds they are holding on your behalf.

If you are indeed a new seller, come back to this community forum every few days and read up.  Most of what I know about selling on eBay, I have learned from the questions and answers posted here.

@space-gypsie:

Once you have received a genuine confirmation from eBay that you have been paid, you MUST ship within your stated shipping time, or risk a performance demerit. DO NOT WAIT for the funds to be in your personal bank account, which your wording suggests may be what your are balking at. Correct me if I'm wrong about your meaning of "not showing in my account".

Either way, being "paid" means that your payment has been SECURED. eBay has never dishonored any of my thousands of payments, and for me there has never been a "problem" with processing my payments. PAID means PAID. "Being processed" does not mean "completed" and in your bank account. You can even use the "being processed" funds to purchase shipping, if you use eBay's labeling and shipping function.

You're not out anything, and will not be out anything when eBay says "paid and it's time to ship". Your funds are ALREADY SECURED, so SHIP!

Cheers, Duffy

Payment bring processed

Hi @space-gypsie . eBay recently changed the payments process for private sellers in UK to hold their funds until after delivery.

You cannot hold the shipment in the meantime; you need to ship within your handling time.

FYI - this is the .com forum. I'm sure there are other sellers discussing this change over on the community.ebay.co.uk forum.

Thanks for your response and no that’s not what I mean.  My eBay balance is £0 yet it’s stating the buyer has paid and I should ship.  When I click on the payment details, it  says payment is being processed.
So in short, the item has sold, customer has paid, but the payment is being processed and my my eBay balance is £0.

That is consistent with the understanding of the posters who have answered you.

In 'Payments' : There is 'available funds' which you have 0.

There is 'Processing' of $$$ ?

Payout schedule : whatever that is ?

Processing of funds does not happen immediately where it goes into available funds.

You need to ship item out whether you receive funds or not.
