PayPal sealed the deal

I've been having a check sent to our finance people on a regular basis.

I guess that is no longer an option on PayPal - And the customer service/recording was the worst experience I can remember having in recent history.

Asking for a check has not been an issue until now.

eBay, PayPal, you win, if losing a long term customer is considered winning.

*** I was able to FINALLY reach someone in India (I assume) who was able to help me. Use www.paypal.com/wdcheck if that is what you want to do ***

Reminder: Business should be simple and intuitive. eBay/PayPal seems to have forgotten this.

It is still available to me in two clicks.

1) From "Summary", click "Transfer Money"

2) from "Transfer Money", click "Request a check by mail"

Seems pretty simple and intuitive to me.

This may also be a perfect topic for the PayPal discussion forum:

Re: PayPal sealed the deal

I have been using PayPal for decades.

All of the normal options were no longer available on my main screen. If it would have been a simple fix, I would not of posted my rant.

The only, let me repeat, THE ONLY option I had was to link a bank account.

No shocker, software issues, programmers may become the most loathed people on the planet if they keep this up.....

Re: PayPal sealed the deal

I do want to make sure I'm 100% clear: this is an issue with PayPal, right? Or is it an issue with eBay?

Re: PayPal sealed the deal

Between the GTC change, now the PayPal issues and a few other "challenges", let's just say things could be better....

Thanks for the input, but I'll have to pass on another forum, as the time has come for some real soul searching......

Re: PayPal sealed the deal

I totally understand, but, sorry to ask again, is it a problem with PayPal or eBay?

The new changes where you can not use your paypal balance to make payments any longer are hindering you from performing tasks?  It sounds like you do not have a paypal business registered account?

If this is the issue then register your business so you can operate like a business.

I'm confused.

In your initial post you said you solved this by going to www.paypal.com/wdcheck.

Now you say you had to link a bank account - but you never mentioned anything about having to link a bank account in your initial post.

That aside ... are you saying that the "Transfer Money" button shown in my screenshot does not appear on your summary?

I have never linked a bank account to my PayPal account.

He said it, he didn't do it.

Re: PayPal sealed the deal

@yccomo

PayPal had some policy updates over the last couple of months.  You may or may not have read the emails they sent out.  There has been some significant changes to the site.  Especially regarding account types.

You need to check your account set up and see if you have a Business Account or a Personal account.  It makes a BIG difference now.  Before the changes it wasn't as big of a deal as it is right now.

If you have a Personal account, you need to upgrade to a Business account.  It doesn't cost anything and since you are doing business on Ebay and using PP as your payment processor, it makes sense to have a Business Account.

Re: PayPal sealed the deal

In order to open a paypal account it was required that a checking account/routing # be given to paypal to confirm for money transfers. Did you not have to do that?

Maybe start a thread titled "Business should be simple and intuitive". eBay/PayPal seems to have forgotten this.

@yccomo, there has been a recent change in federal regulations regarding card providers and attached bank accounts. I suspect it has something to do with this. Business accounts aren't affected, so I haven't run into this myself, but its my understanding that for personal accounts, PayPal is no longer allowed to hold funds like a bank and must deposit them to some type of bank account. I believe it has something to do with the FDIC insurability of the funds.

There have been a few posters on the board over the last month or two that have mentioned some of the options disappearing from their PayPal and I believe it is directly related to this regulatory change.
