Partial Refunds

It seems like ebay changed because before I used to have the option of "view paypal transaction". I would open that up and be able to issue them a partial refund. Now how do I issue partial refund? I tried searching the transaction in paypal using their ebay email address (the one with all the numbers@ebay.com) but it doesn't find anything. How can I pull up their paypal transaction now? I tried searching by name but sometimes buyer has different names.

Re: Partial Refunds

I wanted to see if you were opted into Managed Payments, but I do not see any sold or completed listings under this user ID.

If you are using MP, you go to your Orders > Awaiting shipment =OR= Orders > Paid & Shipped, click the down-arrow, and select Issue Refund.  Select a reason and change the amount to be refunded.

Re: Partial Refunds

if you're using paypal...

Log in to paypal.

Go to the item in question.

Click on "issue refund" (upper right hand corner somewhere).

BE CAREFUL to set the amount you wish to refund otherwise it will issue a full refund.

Re: Partial Refunds

Pull up the transaction in PayPal, and at the refund page it will show the full amount of the transaction.  Click/swipe on the box where the amount shows and you can type in a new amount.  There's nothing telling you that you can do this, but you can.  I just learned this last week.

Re: Partial Refunds

Thank you, how do you find the item in question without having to manually look for it? I tried to do a search because the sale is from days ago and I have had multiple transactions since then. Before I manually filtered by the date and went through each transaction and compared the names and amounts. Is there a way to search by transaction ID or something is what I am asking?

@bestdealsny

https://www.ebay.com/sh

Seller Hub>>Orders

If it is shipped already, then select "Paid and Shipped"

If it hasn't, select "Awaiting Shipment"

Use the dropdown at the top of the list to search for the item:

Re: Partial Refunds

I see suggestions here that partial refunds can be done through PayPal, and while that is true, a refund via PayPal does not reverse eBay's fees on the refunded amount. Only PayPal's fees are adjusted.  So, the question remains: How to do a partial refund, for instance, on overpaid shipping charges, in eBay itself, which would result in a reduction of the eBay fees charged on that refund?
