Part time/small sellers

We had a very pleasant chat yesterday with eBay executive Sarah Brubacher. Very nice person BTW. She has assured us that ebay values & wants to keep small/part time sellers around. I’ve always believed that long time sellers of any volume are the backbone of eBay & according to what Sarah said EBay recognizes that.

This post is for informational purposes. Some will believe it & some won’t.

Have a great day my friends! 😀

IMHO...evangelists, yes...but it's a walled-in, well-fed group that has no concept of life outside the wall.

Sounds like some board posters ....lol
Chat was supposed to be on structured data, then to changed to seller evangelist. Supposed to be interacting so our voice is heard.

Evangelism marketing is an advanced form of word of mouth marketing in which companies develop customers who believe so strongly in a particular product or service that they freely try to convince others to buy and use it. The customers become voluntary advocates, actively spreading the word on behalf of the company.

Here is a question for you to ask...

Ask Reverend Burk,  IF he is going to give up his ebay salary to convert these  ebay customers into  becoming     voluntary advocates, actively spreading the word on behalf of the company.

IT would be more/most convincing if the intial evanglism came from someone without a stake in the outcome.

ebay had these volutary advocates in the past.  I wonder what changed.

Structured data was last weeks chat - for what it was worth.

About $0.02.  But since it's you, we'll upgrade it to $0.03.  🙂

Great! 45.8% down over the same time last year with 2x+ items listed. Are you impressed? I'm certainly not!

Does that mean I get the 3 cents for reading it?

What frosts me is the both items i listed last night were rejected for no MPN - on vintage items - and that IS wasn't even coming up in Wonderlister. I had to add it myself in both listings.

I can see how well this is going to go.

more from wikipedia on corporate Evangelism

As they act independently, evangelist customers often become key influencers. The fact that evangelists are not paid or associated with any company make their beliefs perceived by others as credible and trustworthy.

Evangelism comes from the three words of 'bringing good news', and the marketing term draws from the religious sense, as consumers are driven by their beliefs in a product or service, which they preach in an attempt to convert others.

This sounds to me like just an extension of the marketing buzz of 'the only important question" - likelihood to recommend. It's all about the importance of the customers who rate you a 10 on LTR as they become unpaid "promoters" for the business.

I had negative interest in joining this chat, even if I was free at the time, simply because . . .

I could never take anyone seriously who called themselves a "Seller Evangelist."

Why not just "Seller Advocate"? To straight forward and easy to understand?

And for that matter, why didn't eBay actually hire one of their long time sellers into the post instead of finding someone with no qualifications other than knowing the right people to get him into a do nothing job supported by seller fees?

I suspect anyone on the site who had sold more than a thousand items over the course of the last ten years would have a LOT to say in any corporate meeting about what is wrong with the marketplace. They probably could not get him or her to shut up. (Which might be why they went in that other direction on hiring day.)

Closest thing to the freight loading docks my guess. As an OTR semi-driver entire trailers get displaced and you call dispatch and they deal with it.  The value of goods stolen from trucks in the U.S. and Canada nearly doubled last year. Was $175 million eight years ago but has skyrocketed now that the trucking industry is forced to hire felons due to discrimination lawsuits.  California topped the list of states with the most freight related thefts. Industry experts estimate all cargo thefts ring up as much as $30 billion in losses each year. The FBI estimations of approximately $4.9 trillion in annual U.S. truck cargo, therefore $30 billion in losses sold on Internet is not important enough to investigate. Has nothing to do with political donations from Amazon to the DNC.

Agree and have hundreds of antiques I refuse to list because any return I loose profit on others sales. When an items shipping is more then the item buyers demand return shipping or give them item for free and refund.
