I've had 2 sports card deliveries disappear in the last 30 days. They have a trackable shipping label attached. The envelopes are dropped off at the post office and then disappear. They never get scanned for tracking. I can't find anywhere on the Ebay site for a chat line or phone number. Can anyone help me find a chat line or phone number?

The post offices are so overwhelmed right now. Whether they made it from your post office to the main hub, they're obviously sitting somewhere. I live an hour south St. Louis and I've been having packages sit for 7-10 days at the St. Louis hub. It's very frustrating to be sure..
One thing I would do is go to usps.com. Click on the help button at the top right. You'll want to start a missing mail claim. Once you do, you'll be contacted by either your post office or the post office that it's supposed to be delivered to. Turns out they take pictures of every scanned item; they can even tell you it's in perfect condition. Mainly what the search cases do is get the item(s) moving again, which is really all we want. Out of dozens of missing mail cases I've had to file only two were closed without them being able to find the item. Then those two items eventually did appear. Good luck!

Yes but the whole problem is his items were not scanned.

And I cannot understand why ebays 'estimates' don't add some extra time accordingly. At least a few days if not a week or something.
Oh , because then buyers would not be happy that's why. Ebay would rather refund them out of sellers pockets than provide them with 'realistic' shipping estimates. 🙄

Just for information.
Are the ESE's marked in any way to show that they hold sportscards?
Sportscards are a high fraud (and often high value) item.
If they are disappearing at the drop off point, it would make sense to have a chat, in person, with the local postmaster.
She would like to know if one of her staff is lightfingered.
Does the ESE have any sort of number on it? If so, are sellers recording those numbers. As in, with a pen and paper or even snapping a pic with your cell, if you are less of a technodolt than me?
I would think it is harder to steal from the mails at the terminal because of the way terminals are set up. Nothing is impossible but--
the workload would make it difficult.

Can you explain exactly what you mean by "are dropped off"?
If you are leaving them on a counter or in a bin, this might be a theft issue rather than delivery issue.
I always stand in line for a scan, because the bin in the middle of a post office lobby seems like a tempting place for a thief with sticky fingers to operate.

Did they actually get lost, as in the buyer complained, or are you just assuming they got lost because no tracking update ?

(Thank you. I did drop 2 of the letters off at the counter and had them weigh them so that I could make sure my scale was accurate. One made it and one didn't. It sounds like the issue is with the Ebay Standard Envelope. It can't be scanned at the counter and is only scanned at the hub. So they can be stolen before they reach the processing center at the hub.)
eBay has some side deal with another company.
Although they get sorted, scanned, and delivered like any other letter would
going through the USPS. The USPS has nothing to do with tracking those.
The only way you can see the tracking is on this site.

They say Ebay Standard Envelope right on the label.

I'm a new seller and if I'm losing 10% of my packages it won't be worth it. Thanks for your feedback.
I have a solution to this. Ship them in a bubble package with tracking. If trying to keep postage costs low with a stamp vs. the cost to ship something under 4 oz, go with the package, and adapt to selling more expensive items. I don't like shipping a $7.00 item for $15.00 US Priority to pay for unverified postal employee pensions, but when it comes to "paying the post office", you just adapt and make the post office starve (and don't waste time on the $7.00 item).
