So my neighbor in my warehouse community sells filters, masks and other items. All materials are sourced in the USA and the material is sent to Mexico for final manufacturing.
They started making N95 and N98 Face mask along with just the plain jane face mask. They are all FDA Approved and European approved. They have been trying to sell them on E-bay with no Luck.
The Reason they can not sell them is Because E-bay will not allow them to sell them.
They Reached out to E-bay and received a reply that basically states that in order to keep price gouging from happening on these items they have RESTRICTED the sale of these items to a group certified sellers and not allowing anymore. ( Looks like ALL CHINESE FROM THE LISTINGS)
So My question to E-bay and the community at large is. DOES NOT COMPETITION in the form of multiple sellers automatically push the price of items down and prevents Price gouging?
Who exactly makes up these rules and what the heck are they thinking? I have many complaints with e-bay rules and regulations but I try not to fight the system.
This has got to be the STUPIDEST thing I have ever heard. Come on E-bay.

It's especially stupid now that the supply crisis has passed and these items can be purchased on Amazon or at your local Lowe's. It's time for eBay to drop this policy.

It sounds like your friend went all in on the manufacturing of those mask. Tell your friend to start his own website. Sorry Ebay does not allow them no matter what you believe Ebay should do.

eBay's site, eBay's rules and those you agree to when selling on eBay...
don't like the rules and policies? ...move on ...
However, you are welcome to sell those products elsewhere.

Are there no other places to sell these?
Agree or disagree with Ebay's rule, it is what it is, and this isn't the only place on the internet to sell things. If there were no, or very few, places to sell it would be different, but there are multiple third party venues available, along with the ability to start one's own website.
There are plenty of things that Ebay doesn't allow to be sold. The options are to sell them elsewhere, or not sell them at all. This isn't 1999 and Ebay isn't the only rodeo in town anymore.

I am not trying to sell these. My neighbor is. The fact is that E-bay allows these items to be sold. But it seems the only People selling them are Chinese or distributors for the Chinese. He has a superior product. My POINT is that Price gouging only happens when you limited the sale of a item. IF E-BAY allowed everyone to sell this product the price would GO DOWN> Competition breeds Pricing equality. This is just one example of many that E-bay and other company's rules for this Covid-19 crisis do not make sense.
