Over inflated bids

I have tow bidders working my item # 174951072331. They have shot the bidding to $400 for a $60 item.

It seems fishy to me. Any ideas?

@rkr7   It "could be" or it is something they both want.  If you click on the bid number on your listing you will get the bidding history.  Next on the Bidder's ID and go to their Feedback history.

Find the "Received as Buyer" (green arrow) feedback tab and click that, then look over on the right (orange arrow) to see how many bid retractions they have in the last 12 months ...

As a Seller you can Cancel any or all bids from any or all Buyers ... you can also add them to your Blocked Buyer's list ... Cancelling bids and Blocking Buyers have links from Seller Hub's Overview page ...

Now, if the item is potentially valuable you may have a home run in progress.  I have had a few of those over the years ... one was for an item that Sold Search revealed should have sold for no more than $ 280 to $ 340 ... it sold for $ 810.  I had a $ 500 - $ 600 item sell for $ 1100.  It's rare BUT it can happen.

Today I had a Buyer retract a bid on an Auction ... I checked their history ... they had a low FB count BUT had 18 retracted bids in the last 12 months ... I added them to my Blocked List ... if they only had a few retracted bids I would have let it go but over 1 per month is too many in my book ...

I once bid $50 on an item that had no underbidder and won it at 50 cents (plus shipping).

I guess I was the only person in the world who wanted that book.

And you have two people who want your item. Yay!

That's the Good News.

Do check the Feedback and the Feedback Left for Others.

And be aware that although Auctions make up less than 15% of listings, they have ten times the number of Unpaid Items.

On a (slightly) brighter note, if the purchase goes unpaid for 96 hours, eBay will automatically close it, return your Final Value Fees, and give the deadbeat a Strike.  You can then offer it to the underbidder-- although I would make that a Fixed Price Listing /Immediate Payment Required.

There are five bidders and twelve watchers, many auctions get nada. You might just have a good item there. Good luck!

The $400.00 bidder has 90 feedbacks, 100% positive, with zero bid retractions. I think you're golden.

Let us hope!

And let us know what happens!

What is your source for this claim? You have been asked repeatedly.

I'm thinking @reallynicestamps that if the " ... Auctions make up less than 15% of listings, they have ten times the number of Unpaid Items. ..." is accurate it may simply be because Sellers can have "Immediate payment required" turned ON for Fixed Price GTC listings whereas with Auctions they can't ...

Looking at other card sets like yours that have sold the current bid is only about 1/2 way to where it could potentially go. I think you have a find there and are good.

There will no doubt be a ton of people tell you that you should use BIN and required immediate payment. This is one of the HUGE downfalls to BIN as opposed to auction formats. No doubt had you listed it at BIN for $60 it would already be sold.

Sold listing show that your item is being gamed. I would cancel and block those two bidders.

Thank you all for your input. I reached out to the top bidder and I am awaiting his response.

If it's good then I 'm the happiest guy out here.

Thanks again,

I don't much care for auctions, but I do have all my toes*  crossed that this will go well for you. It's exciting when something takes off.

Best Wishes.

You "reached out to the top bidder".  And said what -- are you a serious bidder? Why do you want my item so much?
