Out of Stock Takedown

Just yelling at myself for not seeing all the details

Buyer Purchased

Email sent that they have wrong address and want me to cancel and use the right address..

I agree and cancel and send new listing with a make an offer for acceptance

Buyer Purchased with different ID

Original Buyer emails me while I cancelled.

Check the message was from zero feedback buyer

Purchase by another id so when I cancel the 2nd order I will get two out of stock feedback..

Guess some seller on this board decided to take me down. 2 defects in one day. lovely..

My fault for not paying attention to id. 15 years never seen it happen like this.

Re: Out of Stock Takedown

It is now all out of stock are reviewed since the original buyer did not request it. It counts as defect. They crack down on sellers doing this. Past post has said shown its cracking folks down now.

Re: Out of Stock Takedown

It's a non-issue if you cancelled citing 'Problem with buyer's address'. If you cited 'Out of stock'... big oops.

Re: Out of Stock Takedown

problem with buyer address no longer work.. unless proof its by the buyer. If no request, its treated as out of stock defect now.

I only find this:

Only applies when canceling through authenticity program or eIS.

Hi @funfactorychannel  Can you clarify? Didn’t the first buyer ask you to cancel? He apparently used the wrong address during checkout.

Also, what did you mean by this in your opening post?—Guess some seller on this board decided to take me down. 2 defects in one day. lovely..”

Sellers have no authority to place defects on a fellow member’s account. Or do you mean someone reported you, and for what?

On the whole, it would be quite unusual for a single competitor’s word to get eBay to act, such as levying a defect, or getting a listing removed. Otherwise those with few scruples would be preying on others all across the platform.

Re: Out of Stock Takedown

I had assume it was original buyer but it wasn't

this was his message "Hi, thank you for accepting the offer, I just realized my address is incorrect, could you please cancel my order so that I can fix it if you still can? thank you! I apologize for my mistake!"

I didnt noticed the email was from another id from the app. So I proceeded to cancel and resend the new listing link. and another ID purchased with the correct offer amount I told user to use.

Then original buyer email me asking me why I cancelled. So I had to cancel the order again and sell it back to the original buyer.

Re: Out of Stock Takedown

Thank you, @funfactorychannel i see. Have you appealed the defect? Below is the link to the Help pages on doing so.

But before appealing, report the ID that posed as your buyer for violating both the Abusive Buyer policy, and the Unwelcome and Malicious Buying policy. (See other links below.) You can report this untenable behavior right from the policy page.

The fake buyer misused eBay Messages, was attempting to commit fraud by posing as your buyer, and compromised the integrity of the platform by providing false information.

Altho your circumstance does not align with the usual reasons eBay would normally remove the defect, the fact that someone posed as the original buyer, and was likely attempting a scam, are unusual extenuating circumstances. You were the victim of a clever fraudster, and had to make things right with your original buyer. It would not be fair for you to be punished. You would not have cancelled the sale otherwise.

It is worth a shot. Good luck to you and hope this gets resolved to your benefit. Please let us know the outcome.

You said the original buyer asked per your original post.  "Buyer Purchased Email sent that they have wrong address and want me to cancel and use the right address.. I agree and cancel and send new listing with a make an offer for acceptance "

For this cancellation you should have selected that the buyer requested the cancellation or you could have cancelled it for a problem with the address.  Either way neither would cause you any defect at all.

Why in the world did you do any cancellation for being out of stock.  That doesn't even make sense as it doesn't apply to your issue.  Did you choose OOS when you cancelled?

What?  I don't think that is correct, but even it if was you had the email from the buyer that proved this to be true.

NO, it is not treated as an OOS defect.  I'm not sure where you are getting this from.

There is a report you can view from this section on your Dashboard.  it will tell you EXACTLY which transactions are involved, please take a peek at that report and see what transaction the defects are on.

Re: Out of Stock Takedown

I think this is great advice, however I'm not sure Ebay will do anything except admonish the misbehaving buyer.  Ebay very well may expect the seller to realize it wasn't the correct buyer.  IDK, it is just a guess.
