Organic impressions going haywire...?

1.jpg

Is anyone else seeing a ridiculous spike in organic views?? Ever since Sept 1, my impressions haven't made much sense and I am having issues with my items being properly indexed in the eBay search engine... I don't know what's going on with eBay. This graph of my organic impressions are WAY off and have never been that high because my views aren't that high at all. So weird to see my account go haywire like this haha.

Re: Organic impressions going haywire...?

You’re confusing page views with impressions they are not the same. Organic impressions are the number of times an item shows up in search. A view is when your item is clicked and looked at.

Re: Organic impressions going haywire...?

I obviously know that. That’s not my point 🤦🏻‍ Nevermind, I figured out what’s going on anyways. A few of my items d

somehow got many thousands of views in a few hours so they must be on other websites or something being promoted. I was up to 60 million impressions yesterday when I am usually at around 500k each day, between promoted and organic.

I just realized I said organic views in my first post… I meant to say organic impressions.

Re: Organic impressions going haywire...?

I had an online chat with ebay the other day regarding listings not indexing.  Regarding a specific listing, I asked why I was able to see the item in a private-browsing mode search for the first 30 minutes or so immediately after listing and then the listing went 'dark' and I couldn't find it on my profile page, in my traffic report, or in a search by item #.  The agent explained that it was in the processing queue (for the next 36 hours) and not searchable, but could not explain how I was able to search/find it initially.

Also, while we were chatting, the page views on the item went from 0 to 30 to 50 to 80 to over 100 in just a few minutes, some promoted and some organic.  Agent denied there was any glitch with the view counter or indexing, though I suspected otherwise.  I've just tried now, a few days later, to list the same item and it appeared in the search/profile instantly.  Hopefully this issue has been resolved -- touch wood!

@samanthasb0utique Just trying to understand: what you seem to be saying is: ebay hasn't gone haywire (at least, not in this instance) and instead, you believe the numbers are accurate, and that they were caused by some external references to your items/store (for example, a blogger, a popular influencer, etc)

Is that correct?

It certainly is plausible, I have had a similar thing happen in the past, and once or twice could actually figure out the actual source.

Re: Organic impressions going haywire...?

When I first posted this, I had no idea what was going on. 60 million organic impressions is unbelievable. But yes, I noticed my items getting thousands of views and I received tons of messages from buyers about these specific items, so I just assume they are being shared somewhere by another platform or something. I honestly don’t know and I am speculating.

Re: Organic impressions going haywire...?

@samanthasb0utique  One reason I am looking into using social media....it can drive a lot of traffic....of course, I won't ever be an "influencer" capable of driving millions or thousands of views, but it is really amazing how much traffic can be driven by social media and other external sites.

Re: Organic impressions going haywire...?

@samanthasb0utique

This happened due to an algorithm glitch in the distribution of the impressions between your listings and your competitors listings.

This glitch boosted your listings at the expense of your competitors listings (whom selling same items of yours).

Now your competitors suffering from dropping views & impressions, and maybe now they issuing a complaints to ebay about that.

Usually this kind of glitch occurs before ebay's seasons updates.

If this is true then that is terrible! Sick of all these glitches since May.

@samanthasb0utique

Yes, you're right.

They (ebay) will fix this soon enough, in the meantime you need to using advantage of this glitch wisely in your favor.

This opportunity doesn't come twice.

Good Luck...
