Order “Returned to Sender”. What to do?

I sold some Levi’s, mailed them out 1/21, on 1/23 tracking said “Out for Delivery” then 4 hours later “Unable to deliver, Return to Sender”.  Now tracking shows the package should arrive back at my address later today. So far I’ve just been waiting to see what happens.  My question is, should I reach out to the buyer and ask if they know anything about this?  Or should I continue to wait it out?  Thanks for your advice.

Order “Returned to Sender”. What to do?

If this were my sale, this is how I'd handle it.

I wouldn't contact the buyer. I'd wait for the item to come back and verify that it's as I'd sent it.

Then I'd contact the buyer through the transaction, let the buyer know that the package was RTS and tell him that I'll issue a refund for the purchase price less original shipping and any fees for which you cannot be reimbursed.

Although you aren't obligated to issue a refund, IMO, it seems wrong to keep the buyer's money and the item. So make yourself whole and relist it.

I can explain it to you but I can’t understand it for you.

I would not do anything until I got the package back and verified the contents were still there.

When it comes back you can cancel the sale. Select problem with address and refund.  You could " sit" on it and see if the buyer contacts you.  If they gave you a bad address, you don't have to refund the shipping.   The package may say why it was returned. Not all do however.

EBay does not require the seller to do anything, not even refund the buyer, if the shipment is Undeliverable.

It's up to the buyer to provide a secure address for delivery.

Might all just come down to what the buyers CCC makes of the whole situation.
