Open unpaid item case

This is just ridiculous!  Are you listening to me eBay?  So I've had to open an unpaid item case for a non paying bidder and now I have to wait ANOTHER 4 days not including the 2 days I already had to wait to open the case.  So I have wait a total of 6 days to move forward with my auction item.  REALLY???  WHAT A $%^$# JOKE!!!  THIS NEEDS TO GET CHANGED-NOW!!!

Use immediate payment required.   Listing does not end until it is paid for.

Many sellers list as fixed price, immediate payment required, to avoid just this problem.

It is said that 80% of all listings are fixed price, immediate payment required.

You won't have to open unpaid item cases anymore because the item is not sold until payment is made; so a serious buyer who wants your item has to pay to actually buy the item.

When you come here to post, you are actually speaking to your fellow Sellers, NOT Ebay.  Sometimes an Ebay employee may read your post, but most times it is just other sellers that come here to spend some of our personal time trying to help others.

For sellers that don't want to wait to be paid there are BIN listings that you can require immediate payment when you set up the listing.  Since you don't want to wait, this is a good option for you.

The UID process is much better now than it use to be.  I understand it annoys you, but for the most part it isn't that bad.  Again, much better than the old system.  Then we had to wait 7 days to open a UID and anothe 7 to close if payment never arrived.  The time now is less than half what it use to be.

I'm assuming this was the item he sold Apr. 1, which was an auction with 5 bids, so he can't do IPR on an auction.

That said, it's usually worthwhile waiting a bit longer than 2 days, and contacting the buyer via Messages first, before opening an UID on an auction.

Ted brings up a good point and he is correct.  YOu can't have IPR on an auction.

What may help you for the future if you want to continue to run auctions is to put your TOS [terms of sale] in your listings.  It appears you are expecting your buyer to know that you want payment in less than 2 days, but you don't say that anywhere in your listing.

If you don't tell your buyers what your payment terms are, how do you expect them to know what they are?  Leaving your payment terms to the imagination of your buyers will often lead to misunderstandings and other issues.  It is always best just to be clear in your listing on what your expectations are.
