ANOTHER BINGO!!!! FORCEFUL ACT TO PAY SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY ON VARIATION FOR DIFFERENT SIZES AND WEIGHT OF PRODUCT.
people create separate listings and selecting shipping services accordingly, but its give more exposure to buyer when its come to variation listing specially same kind of product with different sizes.
i have multiple variation listings, in variation, same kind of products has different size and weights, but there is also option to enable two shipping services at a time on variation listing which is actually not showing or working on listing.on listing its shows only one kind of shipping service no matter if you enable two or three kind of shipping services, what if one product weight is less then 1 lb and that should be shipped actually by first class in variation but there is no option to apply first class based on weight of product in same variation listing,BINGO!!!!!
Some of variation has less then 1 lb and some of are more than 1lb there must be an option to apply shipping services based on weight of product in same variation. is this a bug on ebay ?????
variation listing gives more exposure to buyer to select different size of product from one listing but other side its screw the seller to ship the item based on one shipping service showing on their listing, though there is option to enable two shipping services at a time on listing to show that either way can be shipped but its not working!!!!!!!
doing single listing for same kind of product for different sizes is not solution, its is less exposure for buyer to reach different sizes of product.
Does any body knows what is solution of this problem when you want to sell same kind of product with different sizes and weights in same variation but with different shipping service depend on selection of product from drop down menu??????

Free shipping and build the cost into each variation.
Charge a flat rate and build in the cost difference to applicable variations.

As long as you have your pricing correct, the only issue that remains is when you print the label. If you are printing your label in Ebay, just change the weight. It will allow you to do that.

Thank you for your suggestion, if any selection in variation is less then 1 lb does it make sense to add cost of priority mail to sell it by saying free shipping ? like this no body would buy it because of high price.
Include the cost of shipping in the item price- FC under a pound and priority over a pound- then on the listing set shipping method as first class. You'll meet your shipping requirement for the lighter weight items and you'll exceed buyer expectations with a priority upgrade for heavier items.

I had to read your OP a few times to understand your issue. So what I'm understanding (correct me if I'm wrong) is that you are saying that sellers aren't able to attach different shipping prices in your listing based on the variation the buyer chooses (because of it's weight). Since you probably have some variations that fall under the 1 lb cut off for First Class, and some don't, right?
If that's what you're saying, then yes it is an issue. But it isn't a glitch or bug on ebay. They just never thought it thru when ebay created multi-variation listings. This issue has been here since the first day MV listings went live and I deal with it every day.
Here's what I do. Calculate the average shipping price of an item in your listing... include ALL variations. Adjust this average to accommodate the variations that sell more/less often. For example, raise it a bit if your heavier variations are top sellers and lightweight ones aren't. Use that price for your cost of shipping. Advertise it as "Standard Shipping". Don't advertise First Class or Priority Mail to protect from SNADs (Yes I've gotten a SNAD once for shipping Priority Mail when I advertised First Class).
Ship your items as you see fit according to size and weight. As @coffeebean832 said, the ones who received their items Priority Mail will be that much happier and your feedbacks will reflect this.

I don't agree that Ebay didn't think it through. If the seller wants them in a variation listing, then they need to take this into consideration when pricing the item. It is not unusual for larger items to cost more, but the shipping doesn't change. You can see this all the time on internet sites.

It's a huge pain in the neck.
They probably haven't changed it after all these years because- aside from the work and cost involved to build out the functionality- they've considered a buyer looking at the listing and being confused when the shipping keeps changing. eBay thinks buyers get confused a lot- just look at what they did with hiding shipping options.

IMO variation listings should be for nearly the same variations of one thing. Different colors shouldn't cost different amounts to ship. If your items vary so greatly they cannot be shipped the same way I don't think they should be in variation listings.
I'm tired of this seller adds a cheapo plug to a variation listing so they can show up as the lowest price. It is borking search results that are bad enough already. I will NOT buy commodity items here. I go to Amazon where there is less search manipulation for the things I buy.
Anyway this is also why I think Ebay doesn't allow different shipping.

Amazon has variation listings with different shipping prices. I don't know if that's what you were asking.

Costing different amounts to ship is dependent on the carrier you use. Remember when USPS had just about 10-13 different prices for 13 different weights of First Class parcels?
USPS currently has 4 different prices for First Class parcels. Anything heavier and it goes Priority. Your standard t shirt can range in weight which covers all 4 price ranges of FC. A size 5XL t shirt is easily over 3 times heavier than a size XS of the same t shirt. Believe you me, there are tons of buyers who look for 5XL (sadly this trend will increase as Americans get bigger and bigger). So are you saying that for a particular design of t shirt... a seller should have 4 different listings for it in order to be grouped by same shipping cost? How confusing would that be for the buyer to see 4 listings for the same shirt.
Some hoodies I sell also have this issue. Size Small qualifies for FC, while sizes Medium and higher must be shipped Priority. So that means for the hoodies, I would have to have 1 listing just for the size Small (advertised at FC shipping) and another listing for sizes M-4XL (advertised at Priority). That would create a mess and confusion. Not to mention, isn't ebay trying to streamline and declutter the amount of listings?

Haha I misread part of your previous post thinking you said eBay gets confused a lot. Hence my statement. But yea, you're still right about eBay thinking buyers have minds like cattle.
