One of a kind item

99 views / 3 watchers on a one of a kind item.  No offers / no sale.  Why not???  You can't buy it anywhere else.   Don't give me, "It's not a sought off item."  It doesn't matter as long as 1 person wants it!  Many people are collectors of this type of thing.  eBay is so frustrating!  lol   Good luck to all

"If watchers and views are supposed to mean sales, then explain how the majority of my sold items have low (less than five) views and no watchers?"

--------

From what I understand,

numerous viewers means a seller could (may be) doing something wrong.

Price too high.

Description too poor.

Photos too vague.  etc.

Terms too difficult.

Low viewed items that Do get sold means:

The listing was accurate, clear, priced in a fair manner,

showcasing the seller and their terms in a positive, buyer-friendly manner.

Right?

1 patch has a RAF propeller symbol on it.  Otherwise, I wouldn't bother including it.

Then why do you have a question mark after RAF ?

Ohhh... the BSA stuff crashed in the collectors market when they started allowing alternative lifestyle scout masters and now the addition of girl has further undermined the market.

Doesn't matter how rare the stuff is. Traditionalist in that market just aren't buying the stuff anymore. I used to love scoring the vintage plus BSA stuff, would always sell quickly until that policy change.

I won't touch it now - even for a buck. Not worth handling because nobody is really buying it like they used to. Does not bring the prices etc.

Just because it is rare or OOAK does not mean it will sell. Some items seller faster than other. The more it costs, the fewer buyers there are for it. Price is important and scarcity with some collector markets doesn't matter. Other sectors are way more "buy it quick" than others as well.

Heck, I have a old badge I threw up yesterday. I wasn't going to actually list it on eBay I am so salty with them. I think today it has 88 or so views and 18 watchers and it is listed for 1500.00. By the time the listing closes I would not be shocked to see 30 plus watchers. Will it sell? I doubt it. It's expensive. Watchers are meaningless and the right buyer will pull the trigger, not just watch it. Watchers are only nice as they indicate interest in the item which can tell you something about the sector.

That said, buyers are so much better than watchers.

Don't be too salty as sales are slow across platforms. I think money is tighter for consumers than most of old sellers might think based upon what I am seeing. First thing to go are luxury and non-necessity collectibles.

Cheers

One of last items I sold had a whopping 1 view!  All it takes is the right 1.

Crashed? I just looked at Terapeak, searching for Boy Scouts. Here's a top example of the crashed market you are talking about:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/372608802002?nordt=true&orig_cvip=true

A badge that sold for over $4,000. 00

Me, I'd be willing to pay a buck, even more for that item.

If the item is "too one of a kind", there's no market for it.

The best items are rare, but not too rare as to give you zero market/demand. Plus, if your item is legitimately one of a kind (ie, there's literally only one), you have to find someone else that knows what it is and it's value. That's get increasingly difficult unless the item is well-known like a famous piece of art.

Even then - I've bought a semi-famous piece of art at Salvation Army. It was one of a kind. I put it up on Ebay for $500. No takers. And I would have been happy to get $300 for it. After having it kicking around my house for 2+ years, I finally got it appraised. Came back at $10,000. I put it up at Sotheby's, and I got $9,300 after fees (it sold for about $13,000). So the other part is where you're selling/who you're selling to.

I'll add to that: and WHO is doing the selling. Here, YOU are doing the selling. Buyers might wonder about authenticity, condition etc unless you are well known as an art dealer. At Sotheby's, YOU aren't the seller (in the eyes of the buyer), Sotheby's is. And when it comes to fine art, Sotheby's has a pretty good reputation.
