Oncew again...buyer cannot use Cart to combine shipping

Have i got something wrong in my eBay Preferences?

Another buyer today wanted two items, but when placing them in a Cart, is not allowed to receive / use combined shipping. Who's missing something here?

I've checked my Preferences for shipping. It seems to be in line for combined shipping.  Notice....I said seems to be. You never know.

I ended up taking the time to combine the photos. etc into one listing so he could take both items in one sale and they could be shipped together.

This is just plain stupid.  Getting real tired of it.

Other buyers however, are able to.

What need to be done here? on my end or the buyer's...OR eBays!!!!

You have to set shipping rules within each listing.  I just tried adding two of your items in my shopping cart.  They both get "combined", however there's no rule set with any "savings" in the ship cost.  You'll have to set those yourself per the shipping rules.   I personally use the flat rate shipping rules.

Once you set/create your shipping rules, you'll have to edit all your listings to use that specific rule for the combined shipping.

Also, there's an alternative to combined shipping (the old school way) and that was the 'request total' feature (located on the buyer's shopping cart page).  It should be noted that in this particular scenario the "request total" button is grayed out since those items I had in my cart required immediate payment from you.  However, I'd just focus on creating the shipping rules though.

I had the same problem last week when someone wanted to order 6 Barbie items from me.  I had to walk her through adding to cart and then hitting the "request total" button and "commit to buy" button.  She did all of that and messaged me that there is NO "request total".  Come to find out she was trying to do this on her phone.  I had read threads that this was the case with phone usage and it was a pretty OLD issue.  Now you would think that with so MANY sales being done from phones this glitch would have been taken care of?!?  I finally just told her to to pay all of the shipping and I would refund her the difference.  BUT since we don't get FVFs back from refunds on shipping, maybe there is a reason that this isn't getting fixed?

True...where's the incentive for eBay to fix it?

For a second time, I went into Site Preferences and looked at the shipping settings.

It's very confusing, at least to me....and I'm not going to make and set rules that I don't understand.

I'm leaving it all alone. When a request from combined shipping comes, I'll deal with it.

Maybe I'll figure it out some year.

Where either of the items on sale?   Do you have immediate payment required checked ?   And do you have yes checked to combined shipping in preferences?   You don't have to set up rules but you do have to have it checked yes

None of the items are on sale....what ever that means in my circumstance. I do not have a store.

All of my listings are Buy It Now with immediate payment. I haven't done auctions since I don't know when.

I have YES checked for Combined Shipping in my preferences. It's been YES for years.

The immediate payment is the problem.  If you have immediate payment clicked it will not allow a buyer for request total which then brings up a commit to buy without them paying.  If you unclick immediate payment they should be able to have the request total
