On the matter of Shiny Objects:

Over the past few weeks everybody was moaning and groaning over the requirement for free returns.

Then the sales tax decision comes down and now that is front and center and returns seems to have dropped off the radar.

And in due course another shiny object will come along and we will be off on a different tangent.

Cause let’s face it - there ain’t nothing any of us can do about any of it (well, except take our ball and go home).

In the classic words of Bette Davis “Buckle your seat belts - it’s going to be a bumpy ride”.

BTW I just noticed: I used to be a "Trailblazer", now I'm a "Guide" - is that a step up or a step down?

"Laissez-faire capitalism (AKA The Great Material Continuum) is the only social system based on the recognition of individual rights and, therefore, the only system that bans force from social relationships." ~ Ayn Rand

Re: On the matter of Shiny Objects:

Can't even imagine how the government is going to implement the "Tax" thing Pretty sure it will screw everyone to the point of non-participation.  Meanwhile - ever consider how you are going to get your tax money back with all the returns ebay wants us to take in? Might just be the death of online selling? Problem is buyers are so used to staying home now and having everything on the planet delivered - I don't think it's really going to help local business's very much.  As the tax base continues to errode where the heck are we all going?

Re: On the matter of Shiny Objects:

It will likely be at the state level since its use tax and likely the marketplace facilitators like EBay who will be responsible. They will back out the sales tax on returns. Amazon and Etsy are already doing this in two states with CT set to come online in December.
