Ok, I'm fed up,, another return.
I accept returns no problem,. however,, ebay has emphasized to buyers , go ahead buy it, try it, return it if you don't like it...
I am adding the following to each of my listings.
I accept returns no problem. When buyers purchase from me, Shipping is included in the original purchase price. If a buyer returns an item, because it doesn't fit, they don't like it or they changed their mind etc. The buyer is responsible for return shipping charges. Upon return, the buyer will be refunded their purchase price less the original cost of shipping the item . If you have any questions. please ask, i always answer promptly.
Fellow sellers. please give me feedback as to if you think this is a good solution?

exactly,,, i was always talking about a remorse return.. i realize, snad returns ,,I am responsible for the shipping..
but my solution.. and what I was trying to do was find a way to recoup the original shipping , when it's a remorse return.
Maybe ebay should stop this free shipping misnomer, and change the language to shipping included... it would stop this generation of shoppers that think they can get something for nothing,

you mean exactly what i said right?? what the OP said??? jensproudwife had given feedback that said it wouldn't be allowed.

1. Don't offer free shipping.
2. Figure out your average cost of return shipping then add that amount into your item cost. This calculator is meant for Free Returns, but it can be applied to your situation: https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/service-and-payments/returns.html

I used to sell with the shipping costs worked into the price, however due to returns i changed to reducing price and adding shipping costs, avoiding hassle of providing partial refunds if even allowed. This way returns due to no fault of my own buyers only received refund of cost of item.
I also started offering free returns to keep TRS+ status but have since gone back to buyer pays return shipping due to increase of returns.

thoughts?
I stopped reading the topic here.
My thoughts are: I agree with you, the seller should set (and communicate) whatever return policy they feel is appropriate, and be able to enforce that. As a practical matter, what I think is irrelevant, that's not how it works.
If you don't offer "Free" returns, or if you deduct shipping costs from refunds, that may fly if the buyer does not object. That's usually honest buyers, but they'll go away mad (and aren't the problem you're trying to solve). But if the buyer chooses to insist it's "not as described" (whether it is or not) you'll be refunding the entire purchase including shipping both directions. The buyers who are the problem know this, and they'll exploit the system and file disputes to recover the rest of their money nearly every time.
This would have the same affect that restocking fees had..
Buyers routinely filed disputes (claimed not as described) to avoid those too.
It discourages buyers who are serial returners.
They know it's unenforceable.
But still allows returns no problem.
The only people it's likely to scare off are buyers who are not serial returners.

owever.. as a buyer, I know i gravitate towards free shipping(actually shipping included) listings.
I am sure that lots and lot of buyers do the same.
***********************************************************************************************************
Actually many buyers may not gravitate towards free shipping as they know they may be paying more for the item than if the listing were transparent with item price and shipping clearly stated.

OP, we don't sell the same type of items so our return conditions are day and night. However, if you are going to add a CYA note (and thats all it is, thats why we call them that) it must be respectful and it must make the buyer feel good about YOU, not the item, you. Also understand two other things, this is something we learned from our old mail order days, no interweb! And we have the highest respect for our buyers, as others do, we put ourselves in their shoes, we collect too. If the item cannot fulfill the buyers expectations then we failed and the item we offered failed. We have no returns, on eBay or in the world. The Fine Print ~
The Fine Print ~ If you are not happy with the condition of this item, return in same condition as shipped for a full refund. We're Old School, we offer this more as an inspection period for the buyer than just a return feature. A chance for our customers to have time to look the item over in-hand and confirm that condition and quality are as described. Please make payment within 48 hrs. of end of auction. After 14 days ALL SALES are FINAL. 😉

Except ... they aren't.
The MBG trumps your 14 Days every time.
When I see this type of wording in a listing (or anything else that goes against policy) I back out of the listing.
Why? Because it tells me the seller either doesn't know the rules or doesn't care ... and that if my purchase goes south, I may be in for a hard time with the seller.

Did the fourteen days change? It was policy a few years ago and we just revise this note.

Yes, it did ...
But that doesn't matter because MBG has always been 30 days from delivery.
So your "All sales are final" just isn't true.

I have concluded I am selling on ebay at my own risk. There is NO seller protection. I sold a doll and shipped it out last week. In my listing I stated it had a damaged thumb on 1 hand.Buyer opened a return because 1 thumb was damaged. To be nice I accepted the return but said she should pay the return shipping because she either did not read the listing or what? My listing also states buyer pays return shipping. She then changed her reason to complain something elase was wrong which it was not. Anyway I knew where this was going, called ebay twice both times was useless and on top of that ebay is charging me 11.00 to ship it back when it only cost 7.00 to ship it out. Got nowhere with that as well. You have to face the fact any buyer can open a case for whatever reason and you will not be protected in any way. When and if I do get the doll back ebay will refund the money on delivery before I even get the chance to inspect the doll. Once again the business model of this company has to be the only one of its kind. This is why so many sellers are leaving and all it would take is 1 good alternative for the rest to leave as well. At least I have enough good transactions so the occasional bad one does not hurt as much. Good luck to everyone.

Certain product categories have unique retail standards and sellers will be able to offer variations on the new returns policy options. Categories that will continue have the option to offer 14-day returns include Collectibles & Art, Cameras & Photo and Medical, Mobility & Disability Equipment. EBay policy for the items we sell.
So now, by your own standard, we won't trust you...

We understand, we agree and we support you. Ebay's return policy is very poor, all one sided, we agree. But as the Richard Right Rules are always quick to point out, it won't change and thats too bad. So please understand, we would love to see this work and thats why we keep posting and keep trying.

My point is
Even if you are allowed a 14 day return in your category ...
The MBG is valid for 30 days from delivery.
No sales are FINAL until the MBG period runs out. The MBG trumps your 14 days. Period.
Any buyer has 30 days to open an MBG return, no matter what your returns policy is (even on no returns)
And even after that, PayPal gives buyers 180 days and Credit Cards allow Chargebacks.
As far as trusting me ...
I offer 60 day free returns.
I don't have ANY disclaimers or TOS in my listings at all.
eBay's rules are my rules.
08-26-2018 06:38 AM
And maybe eBay will clear that up...we won't debate it...waste of time.
Good Luck to you, I wish you All the Best.
