Sorry - I'm not selling items for 50%, or less, of my asking price.  I'm not seeking 2x what I paid for the item & I'm not basing my price on 2x what others sell theirs for.  If someone sold their item for over $40 or in the low 30s, why would I go under $20 for mine??  I know some like to include the S/H cost in the price they are paying but, sellers make ZERO on S/H; especially after paying 10% to eBay (for no service whatsoever) & take a small hit on the postage already.  Good luck to us all.    🙂  Stay safe.

This is why I don't offer BO.  I price at what I am willing to accept, end of story.

I can't begin to count how many threads have been on the boards with sellers complaining about low ballers, etc.

And of course, you can set your BO to auto decline offers below a certain level, then you don't even know about them, and your serenity is preserved.

An item is only worth what another seller or buyer will pay you at this time.

You can always ask whatever price you wish, doesn't mean you'll get lucky & get yourself some $'s

Just cross your fingers that none of your low ballers use the report as price gouging button.

On any BO listings I do, I don't mind lowballers at all. For one thing they don't waste any of my time because I can either ignore them, or set my prefs to reject any price lower then a certain price, or I can just reject their offer which takes about a couple seconds. When someone offers me 50 bucks for somthing I have listed at 100 I kind of admire them for their courage. I get a kick out of some folks who have the guts to offer half price. They are problably under the notion that if they lowball 20 items they might end up getting 3 or 4 of those items. Not bad.

As far my auctions where I'm starting out a hundred dollar item for one dollar, I love the lowballers because they are the ones who always get the auction started and get it on the board and help to get the bid count up high which always helps out in the end because the more bids the more interesting it looks to buyers.

That is entirely up to you. Sometimes sellers do.

I agree with you, and to be honest the only time I use Best Offer is to stir the pot.

Most times it is a waste of effort with the low ball give away buyers.

I am currently trying auction style to get some response..so far so bad! I have decided that due to the current urgency with the virus that a yard sale for the warmer months is probably out of the question. Left with selling cheap or donating the less expensive items. Trying to downsize.

We know a guy who stocks his antique mall booth with items he buys with lowball offers on eBay (he doesn't sell on eBay, just through his booth).  Almost every night he sits down and peruses eBay listings and makes tons of lowball offers  and he said it's surprising how many are accepted.  Obviously it works for him because he's been doing it for years.

Some people are just happy to sell irregardless of the price. Not me, as many of the vintage/antique are nice items not cheap to have purchased , hence not cheap to sell. The clothing line was started to off set poor sales, and that has had it's run prices have lowered.

I sell on another site that's social media and a lot of haggling.  After a while you get used to it.  I always counter offer, even if the offer is stupid low - it's surprising how many people use the low-ball as a starting offer and want to dicker up (and dicker YOU down) and meet in the mddle.  Most of the time, though, they won't even budge a nickle from their low-ball and I stop wasting my time.  Other times I'm just glad to get rid of the item (I make my living doing this so am pretty ruthless about keeping merchandise moving) - but below a certain price point I don't bother - there's only so much handling and futzing I'll do with something before it's simply sunk costs and out it goes - but that's just a fact of retail overall.

I routinely get offers via messaging on stuff that isn't listed as Best Offer or Buy it Now.  This has increased over the last couple of years.  The items always sell for more than these early lowballs so mostly I don't even respond to them.  I'm not sure what the people are thinking.  If they can't wait 3-4 more days, there are other places to buy goods on the internet.

Just today, I had a $5 offer on an item I have listed for $45.  Really?  Do they actually believe it will be accepted??  lol

If it bothers you that much then set up an auto-decline price. Then you never have to see the low offers.

Some people don't care and still send you lowball offers even when you don't have a Best Offer option on your listing.
