Does ebay no longer allow sellers to send an offer to a buyer in the messaging system? I have a buyer who wants to buy one item in a lot I have listed, we came to deal but the option to “send offer” is nowhere to be seen in the message. There used to be a button for that, right? What happened?

Check the first message that they sent as I think that is the only time the offer link shows up.
You could also just add make an offer to the listing and set it up to automatically accept the agreed on price.

Buyers asking about special offers and you replying about those offers can be considered possible outside Ebay realm of sales and Ebay frowns upon that. If you truly want this person to buy one item from a listed lot you would need to end that listed lot, put up a new listing with that single item, and reply to the buyer to buy it there.

Create a private Coupon. and then, send the Coupon link to him.

They are not referring to an off eBay sale. eBay adds the make an offer link to the first message that a buyer sends from a specific item. That’s what the op is asking about.

You do realize that you will have to end your listing if you sell something from the lot, right? If you remove something from the lot to sell to this person and someone else buys the lot through the listing the item would be NAD.

I get these types of requests occasionally. You need to pull the item from the lot, create a stand alone new listing for the item they asked about. Then, if necessary you need to reshoot the photos of the original lot sans the item you removed and revise the existing lot. My answer is usually that after I break up the original lot I will have to charge 30% more per piece for your special request. Lot pricing is already reduced to move merch.

I understand that. I was just warning the OP about getting a message then ending an item after replying to a message could be trouble depending on the scenario in which the message read. We did not see the actual message.
