So I've been selling on ebay for years. But I think recently was the first time I ever received an offer higher than the buy it now price. So I have an expensive Apple Product up for sale. For $1,000. I then receive an offer from a buyer for $1,100. WHAT? That's $100 more the listing. Its confusing to me, because how is that even possible? How are you allowed to send a number through higher? So first I went and checked out their page. The had 100% positive reviews except for 1 negative reviews. But then I noticed their in Japan. And I'm in california. But I"m shipping through the global. shipping program. So after their profile checked out pretty normal I guess I accepted the offer. This was less than 24 hours ago. They have yet to pay. My question is does this sound sketchy? Is this some kind of trick on seller to send higher offers than the asking price? What should I do next? Just continue waiting on their payment. Or should i call ebay?

Ask yourself, why would anyone offer to pay you more than the price required to simply buy your item ?
Unbelievable, you chose to accept.

Probably a scam.
Next, they will want to get your e-mail by asking a question, for a photo, need help paying/problems with PayPal, etc., so they can send a fake 'You've got Money' e-mail.

**bleep**. What is your problem. Do you get something out of criticizing people. A simple "maybe this is a scam. Don't go through this transaction any further" kind of response would've been better than trying to shame somebody. People make mistakes everyday. And if i made one here than fine. But trying to imply that im not intelligent is rude AF. **F*** off. This is the first time I ever even posted in this forum. And I sure won't be again. You people are mean as hell.

True. That's what I thought too. Most people rather save money than spend more. But then I looked through different topics with this same topic. And I saw some saying just because an offer came through higher doesn't automatically mean its a scam. So after i saw responses like that i thought okay maybe i should give this buyer the benefit of the doubt before jumping to conclusions. Me personally no I don't do it sending an offer higher than the asking price. I don't get why someone would do that. Unless they just aren't aware how ebay works. Which I saw someone say some just don't know how the make offer button works.

I take it that you took offense at my post. If that is how you read it, so be it. It wasn't meant to be any of the adverse things you seem to think. Had I wanted to be rude, you would have know it.

@gracieallen01 I’m sure the remark by the OP was meant for the poster just before you. Your post wasn’t offensive in the least, but the other one had a slight in it.

@musiqnme87 You inadvertently just reamed a poster who was trying to help you and had no criticism in it whatsoever. I believe it was another poster who upset you with the “Unbelievably..” remark?
Wouldn't have labelled any of the posts “mean as hell” but you can expect to get the full range of human interaction on a public forum such as this. Hate to think all the effort to address your concern has been discounted by one stray remark, because you were right to listen to your instincts. They were spot on, yes, this is a scam attempt. I am so glad you posted here. Fraudsters often target expensive items being sold by newer members in hopes their inexperience will aid their thievery.

....................general reply......................
folks on this board can be tough, sadly I have never ever gotten a fake paypal email and I sell plenty of items for a thousand.nothing wrong with selling phones but I just have to wonder, sounds like an easy phone to buy, maybe millions were made.I would not think of using GSP but thats just me.I can not conceive of someone wanting to pay an extra 200 in customs with the GSP,of course all the customs is pure conjecture but if I need a phone I would buy one where I live..................sell that phone and please come back if you have a problem, you will always get good advice on the board

I have been selling here for years and have been using offers for awhile and can't say I have ever seen an offer higher than the BIN. First time I have ever heard of this happening. With all the scams going on here, my gut tells me it is a scam.
Since you have accepted the offer, now all you can do is wait. After two days you could report the buyer for non-payment, then they have 5 days to pay.

I hope this isn't a scam and it all works out for the better. Keep us posted.

Seems that it is just my siggy line getting me into trouble, again. Oh well, just what I get for being a cynic and a smart aleck. We've PM'ed a couple of time and no problems. Thank you for your post, though.
