Did you mean:

Now it's getting beyond stupid.

I went to contact one of my customers who had made a major purchase a couple of weeks ago. I put in a small gift with the items and she left glowing feedback for me.

I just wanted to say thanks again and tell her a little bit about the gift I sent her. I used one of her old emails to reply to. Well what do you think happened. Of course,  it would not allow me to send the message, so I had to respond to her through the purchase record. Good grief!!!!!!! Don't they want sales??? Communication is how to get them. I'm fed up.

You are attempting to communicate about an invalid item.

Are you making sales, or trying to get life long penpals?

Having went back to your past threads, I have to wonder if its not the latter. If so, you need to decide whats more important, friends, or cash

I have lots of customers who have been friends for many years. I don't know what YOU sell but in the antiques/ collectbles lines I deal in the one time customer is by FAR the exception.

This is just another example of eBay overreach. You don't need to tell the OP how she should run her business... and neither does eBay.

In today's world, personal service and personal contact... with someone who isn't hourly and wearing a blue smock... is a rarity.  It is a great way to build relationships with customers, and make them loyal to you (seller, or site).  It is particularly important when selling stuff to specialty niche buyers, where your reputation and knowledge make a lot of difference.

Corporate sellers don't do personal service and personal contact - at best, they'll spam you with some generic feel-good stuff that is "tailored" to whatever their bot told them you're about - which almost always feels impersonal and intrusive instead.

On another site, where I sell a different line of specialty niche items, the bulk of my sales come from large quantity purchases that add up to big money transactions.  These always start off with questions about a single item, and do I have any more... it usually takes many such conversations before I finish selling them stuff and complete the transaction.  I happily pay the site's reasonable fees on the entire sale by creating a Reserved listing, because they SUPPORT this method of selling.

...you need to decide whats more important, friends, or cash...

Well, actually, when you sell the type of stuff we do, they're equally important.  And you won't end up with one without the other.

I mentioned this in another thread.

I am trying to correspond with a seller.  He is supposedly friendly and takes questions from what I am reading.

Yet no reply.  Now I am wondering if he is not ignoring me but just cannot respond.

He is about to lose a buyer though on a high $ purchase.

Exactly how long ago was the purchase? I think the messaging connection through the listing is only valid for a fixed period of time after sale, after which you'll get that message.

As you now have a pre-existing business relationship with that customer, you can conduct future business (or any other communication with her) as you see fit.

Today, anything about an item not sold and paid for will get you into trouble. It is no longer worth the risk or aggravation to get yourself booted, no matter what your intent.

Contacting your buyer on another email about a not purchased item, will eventually get you kicked off, no matter what the intent or reason.

Ebay has become a paranoid entity thanks to their idiotic senior management.

I had a guy actually email me asking if I wanted to buy some stuff. Block and delete and hope Ebay does not blame me.

I sent an email asking to see the back of the ring.  I want to see the shank and inside of the ring.

Sellers take pictures from the front and sides but forget to do one of the back.

The other one  I sent asked to clarify VS - if the clarity of the diamonds was VS1 or VS2.

I do not see how that can be interpreted as anything but need to know before purchasing questions.

With your previous suspension you will have to be very careful in any messaging that you do.  You are probably on "superbot" radar if there is such a level.

You have the actual email address of any buyer that paid by PayPal, and that may be your best avenue of communication, that being completely outside of the eBay realm.

Emerald I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. How are we supposed to forge relationships with our buyers if eBay won't allow it. I just don't understand anything anymore.

It was only two weeks ago. And if you think I'd use my regular email address and hers. What if she considered that a violation of her privacy and called eBay. Well you know where I'd be.

I don't understand this. You send a email? and eBay intercepted it? If it was an old sale that was invalid and it was a eBay  message and went "did you like the gift"  I would worry the bots could pick that up as outside eBay sale.

Good to be wary of that I think... the "separate companies" might not really be all that "separate"... check this out:

I'd think getting the email address from PP and emailing them directly would be safe but no way I'd email them off of PayPal.

Chaos is NOT an "industry standard".
