Novel buying idea on best offers

Unless it is a competitor, which I dont think so.  If you put in a best offer on an item please pay for it.  I know it is a new kind of idea but you know, it is usually a pretty good one.  I had a guy put in a best offer, he or she was like, hey, can you do this, it would save me x in customs and I was sure.  I make money, you save money, we are all happy.  Two weeks go buy after the sale an no cash.  I realized this yesterday and thought to myself how many people put in best offers and then just dont pay.  Probably not too many.

No, not many, but, like the immediate cancellations after purchase, seem to be more prevalent lately.

I even had one do a MQ request total and then vanish. Never had that happen before ever.

How frustrating, Mike. Sorry that happened.

Hopefully not too many do that. What a waste of time.

There are (and always have been) threads all over the boards about this problem, and sellers not being able to place a immediate payment required on accepted best offers.  Sometimes, the more one bends over backwards for a buyer, the easier it is to get *pushed over*, the rest of the way.

Two weeks go buy after the sale an no cash.

You can open an Unpaid Item Dispute after 96 hours (48 if you are US-based) and close it after another 96.

Giving more than that, especially when you made a specific deal for the customer is not 'being nice'.

It's just unprofessional.

While it would depend on the category, probably not too many. Although if you are selling an easily available product (as opposed to a vintage collectible) the customer may have several Best Offers open at the same time, and choose the best deal he is offered.

Unpaid is open already.  I did that as soon as I saw that it wasnt paid.  It is a pretty quickly selling item and will get more for it the next time around.  I am not worried about that.  It is just weird that someone goes through the motions of wanting, asking and requesting and then just vanishes.

The only thing I can put it down to is the buyer suddenly realizing they have too much month at the end of the money = )

Believe it or not it is another seller.  A pretty decent sized one from what it appears.

I believe it. My worst customers have always been other sellers.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

But if he has several Best Offer out, and sellers accept them, he could find himself on the hook for several items when he only wanted one.  If the other sellers open UPIs, and the buyer doesn't pay, he could find he has a problem bidding or buying due to the two strike block.

Buyer could ask to cancel, though, and could get out of the situation that way, I suppose.

How many times have we read on the Board that sellers make the worst buyers?

So it seems to be proven true yet again.

Years ago, I went through my genre category and blocked the ids of my competition.  While it doesn't stop them completely, it slows them down a bit.  And if you know how to work the CS, if you suspect a competitor is messing with you, you pull the auction interferance angle and get them in huge trouble.

OP, what happens is that buyers don't just make offers to you, they will often make offers on most of the items out there and then pay the seller that gives them the cheapest deal.

I never use BO, saves me from hassles like that.

This is a true story. Had a lady make an offer and I accepted. The next day she wrote me a note saying that she only wanted to make an offer, she didn't actually want to buy it!

I was floored when I read that. I cancelled and blocked. Yes, people really are that....naive....  the nicest word I can think of at the moment.

Sorry, but I'm afraid I'm not following the part about the savings on Customs' fees?
