Noticeable difference between: Having a Sale, Using Best Offer, and simply reducing the price.

There is a noticeable difference between: Having a Sale, Using Best Offer, and simply reducing the price with watchers.

Its a fact for me I  got more Sales when I used markdown manager  than when I inserted Best Offer or  simply reduced the price with watchers.  So, the damages done to my Sales are real.

I was trying to be proactive when they annouced Sellers would need to wait 14 days before they could have a Sale;  therefore I engaged in using Best offer and reducing the price on my listings with my watchers.  So, now that I touched everything, per the recent change, I still must wait 14 days from my last changes.

So, on Monday, I will start my own job fair:   got to get a job working for the man!  Wish me luck!!!!!

Of course there is a big boost with running a sale.  And that is why some sellers were running them constantly.  And many of those were doing it just to get an artificial bost, because in actuality it was not a sale, but price manipulation.

So how is that fair to people like me who price the item and then run an occasional sale based on that price.  We are willing to take less money for that boost - which is a true sale.

Not just marking it up and then marking it down or basing it on some MSRP price which we know we would never list for here.

It is getting ridiculous around here.   What are we all here for:  to make Sales.  What are buyers her for: to make purchases at a good price.   Why does eBay have this platform: so that Sellers can sell and buyers can buy.   Buyers want a deal and are motivated by sales.

If you set your price and just let it set,  to me that is absurd,  in particular when you see your competitor has now listed their item at a lower price.   If I can afford to lower my price via a sale, why would I not do this.

Confirming a Seller is getting more sales by using markdown manager with the added fact that means buyers are buying / happily making purchases ...................and to find fault with that only leads to one conclusion:  it is getting ridiculous around here.    Now sellers are being punished for using the tools they are paying for: Markdown Manager,  to better feed their families, pay their bills, etc.

eBay had to have seen a drastic drop in sales when they made the decision to allow Sellers to only have sales every 14 days.   So,  not only were Sellers punished, but buyers as well, they did not buy because there were no sales.

It was suggested,  maybe even flat out stated:   buyers were unhappy with the frequency of sales.  Please share with me the names of those buyers.   Even if such buyers existed, what about the ones who loved sellers who had frequent sales.

It was suggested that the frequency of a Seller's sale was (price manipulation) deceptive to buyers.   Any buyer, who has the ability to use the Internet to shop online, and/or walk into a retail store should  also have the competency to go into more than one or two stores for comparison and competitive shopping.   So,  if I had an item that I marked at $100 and immediately did a 50% discount and that lead to a buyer to make a purchase-----what prevented that same buyer for checking out the pricing of other sellers.   If those types of sales have caused buyers to buy on impulse,  sorry to say those buyers has bigger fish to fry.   They might want to get therapy,  and they better hope their therapist sets their price and lets it set.....  dare not have frequent sales on their service,  we would hate for that buyer to be in a vicious loop.

This coddling of buyers certainly is not: Making Shopping/Buying Great Again.   It is the equivalent of only having pictures on the menu without words to only aid those those who can not read and those who refuse to learn to do so.  We are dumbing down America(n's)!!!!

We should be educating buyers/consumers:  teaching them how to be savvy shoppers/buyers and not falling for gimmicks like Free Shipping and Free Returns,  in the end,  we all know there is no Free Shipping and/or Free Returns,  buyer are ultimately paying for it down the road.  In fact:  for those who believe a Seller having frequent Sales is a form of price manipulation and deceptive to Buyers, just what is Free Shipping and Free Returns.   As stated before:  It is getting ridiculous around here.

Why are we not hearing these debates/master discussions about Sale frequency on other online sites................oh, I know why:  because, it is only getting ridiculous around here. unamused

Another anti-buyer poster.  And you wonder why many purchase based on courtesy rather than price.

As to your question - name buyers who hate sales - it should read -

Name buyers who hate FAKE sales.

Tell that to the buyer who noticed,  I did not have a Sale last week.  I got a message a couple of days ago from a buyer who saw my sale over a week ago,  who did not have the money to get  what she wanted during the sale    (This) buyer was waiting for me to have another sale and when she saw that did not happen, she messaged me and said:  hey, I missed your sale last week; I really want the XXX, can I still get it at that price.   So, what did I do:  I sent her an offer marking the item $2.00 less, the old sales price.

Bottomline:

There was nothing Fake about her saving the $2.00 and me getting that sale.  She was happy and so was I.

I am sure your buyer appreciated your kind response with an offer. This whole Markdown Manager issue is missguided. Shoppers are not stupid. They know how to comparison shop.

Although not my selling method, if a seller raises an items price, then puts the item on sale with their new price then lower than my asking price if have a few options.

Option 1: lower my price to match or undercut their sale price or,

Option 2: keep my asking price and wait until their item sells or their sale ends.

Either way sellers need to realize that they can control only their own actions and make their business decisions accordingly.

I AM SO MAD ABOUT THIS! It is so totally bogus for many reasons. FIRST, I rarely make sales. Second, I do a lot of 10 day listings. Why? So that they show up as newly listed or ending soon. Now, there is no way to make a sale on those items. Next, I have items that have been relisted sooo many times that I am sick of them sitting here and willing to get rid of them for a great price. One of the incentives of having a store was the ability to make a sale. Well, now Ebay has taken that away. Etsy is looking better and better, as well as selling locally. I am so almost done with this. It is nothing but GRIEF!

Good luck to you! I am exploring other options as well as closing my store. Ebay can make their fees of some other sucker.

Noticeable difference between: Having a Sale, Using Best Offer, and simply reducing the price.

About 8 years ago, I sold some of my college textbooks on eBay. I remember it being a great experience. Fast forward to June 2018.....I stumbled upon a couple of great estate sales and thought "Man, I can make a few bucks on eBay." I didn't relaize that it wasn't the same good ol' eBay that I once knew.

I have only listed a couple of "test" items because reading all of the fees, rules, and comments about glitches and the return polciy, has me terrified to list anything of real value. Since all of my items are used, I feel like the description is too open to interpretation and makes it easy for a buyer to state that the item wasn't as described. I have read endless comments where a seller has pointed out defects in the listinng but the buyer is still able to return the item and get a refund, including the shipping.

I have looked into Amazon and Etsy but I don't have enough stuff to absorb those fees. What other platforms are ideal for a small time girl who just wants to make a few bucks?

It is again board rules to advise you to leave ebay and sell on one of their competitor's platforms.

The reason is obvious.
