You get use to it as you use it more. I know it can be frustrating. I've spent a bit of time myself calling my computer all kinds of names. I too am not particularly fond of this listing form. I have my fingers crossed that it will get some serious improvements soon.
If you do a search of the community, you will find there are a great number of threads on this subject. You might look at some of the more current ones as they may contain some ideas to make your life a bit easier.
