Not able to use the word Ivory to describe a color.

I just tried to relist a Lenox Ivory and Gold Snowman figure and it wouldn't let me.  It said that I cannot sell ivory on here unless it is earlier than 1900, blah blah blah.  I know that.  I'm not trying to sell ivory.   I am trying to describe the color and with Lenox, it is always Ivory and Gold.  I had to change the word ivory to cream everywhere that I had it.  What the heck?!

@oldstuffy- Is it a warning message that you can click past or is it actually stopping you from listing?

We just hsd this issue with a color in the title.  Try using quotes "Ivory" "Color:Ivory"

See if that works

I wonder what happens if a seller tries to sell Ivory soap???

You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.

🤣Thanks for the chuckle. The way things have been lately, eBay may well consider it illegal for people to want to be clean.

Serious answer to your funny reply- 😁

I wouldn't be surprised if the system threw up a warning- however I think the warnings and restrictions on the word ivory have eased up over the years. I used to see it across pretty much every category, now I only see it in more focused categories. eBay actually improved those warning bots to a degree.

I had 4 Vintage Ads for Ivory Soap - item specific recommendation - ad the color specific "ivory".

No no you dingbats....Ivory Soap is the brand name!

@oldstuffy

Anyone that is familiar with Lenox items knows that color involved. You can use word ivori and be ok, and in the title: Classic Lenox color. Gosh I wonder when the word Jadeite will be on the chopping block now?

I tried to include some Presidential history in a listing that mentioned John Adams and ebay warned me against having contact info in a listing.  lol  - For a dead President?

It actually stopped me from listing.  I couldn't get past it until I changed the word ivory to cream in the title and the description.  I had at first only changed it in the title but it still wouldn't let me list it without changing it in the description too.

You could, but when buyers search for ivory and gold, it won't come up so what's the use.

Probably the same thing.

eBay does not allow the listing of ivory items.  Listings are checked by bots.  Bots cannot identify the difference between Ivory soap and ivory jewelry, artifacts etc
