Non-store fee increase

This was buried in the part of the Spring Seller Update under the Ebay Stores stuff. I would have totally missed it if I hadn't gone there to read about the new Starter Store. Anyone without a store would probably never read that section.

  • Non-Store. When you exceed your 50 zero insertion fee listing allocation, the insertion fee will change from $0.30 to $0.35

Re: Non-store fee increase

I caught that one as well.  I've only been selling here for roughly 5 months so I'm small potatos here but I was also looking at the "cheap" store option at $4.95 a month for I think it was 100 free listings. I may end up going that way myself.   I am more concerned how the new payment system  will work .  I have tried to find out how this new system works but it's not easy.

@sndconsignments-1

What "new payment system"?

Re: Non-store fee increase

I think they are talking about Adyen - there is so much misinformation being spread and sellers are natural confused.

Nice catch on the listing increase - but i'm not surprised - went to Aldi's this week and everything that was priced at 99 cents last week was $1.29 this week - so a 30% jump. Everything is going up unfortunately.

Re: Non-store fee increase

I thought Ebay and Paypal had agreed to extend the agreement and continue to offer Paypal through 2023? That's a long way away to be worrying about it.

Re: Non-store fee increase

You need to read this:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Announcements/eBay-to-Intermediate-Payments-on-its-Marketplace-Platfor...

We have signed an agreement with Adyen, a leading global payments processor, to become our primary payments processing partner. PayPal, a long-time eBay partner, will be a payments option at checkout for eBay buyers.... eBay will begin payments intermediation on a small scale in North America starting in the second half of 2018, expanding in 2019 under the terms of the Operating Agreement with PayPal. In 2021, we expect to have transitioned a majority of marketplace customers to the new payments experience.

Yes, I caught that one as well, @readabouthorses.   I was telling a friend of mine who's an occasional seller and doesn't have a store about it last night.   She just sighed and said, "Well, yet another reason for me to look at other places to sell my stuff."     ;(

Re: Non-store fee increase

I read that but I also read that Ebay and Paypal have extended their agreement and Paypal will remain as a checkout option through 2023. Now I guess that doesn't mean that SELLERS will be able to continue to offer it as their only option. Ebay may force sellers to take both before that.

Re: Non-store fee increase

I think if 5 cents makes that much of a difference for listing or not, I'd question the value in doing the work to list it at all.

I'm not questioning the increase .. I'm questioning the sneakiness of slipping it in with the Stores Update. Basically there is NOWHERE in the Spring Seller Update boards that it could be discussed since it doesn't apply to any of those topics.

If you are gonna do it ebay ... own it ... don't hide it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If she's truly an "occasional seller" then perhaps she doesn't need more than the  free 50 insertions per month anyway. If she's listing more than 50, then the new Starter store might interest her.

Yep they've slid in a listing fee increase.

Yep.  My thoughts exactly.  But, she's also heard me gripe about what I go through selling at a higher level, so she's not too keen on "getting more involved."   However, I am going to speak to her about it as the one thing she wishes she had was a "vacation" option and of course you don't have that capability if you're just a regular, "standalone" seller.
