Non- paying bidders with zero feedbacks

I have had so many bidders with zero feedback that never pay for their item after it’s won. I listed one particular item 3 times and each time, it’s been these loser bidders with zero feedbacks that have NO intention to pay. I put a lot of hard work and money into my eBay and such bidders make it very difficult to run a small business affectively. Is there a way sellers can not allow bidders with zero feedback to bid on their items? Am I the only one this is happening to? And what is EBay doing about it?

Well its really frustrating. Did you report this incident to eBay with the particular buyer's ID and account info?

I am pretty sure that eBay will take actions for this.

There is no way to stop 0 feedback buyers from bidding as ebay wants to attract new buyers, not discourage them.   Most of your items have just one bid so you may want to list them as a fixed price listing rather than an auction. Then you can use 'immediate payment required'.

The only thing Ebay does is give the alleged buyer a strike.  If they get too many, then they cannot participate in auctions or buy on ebay for a specific time frame.  Then that buyer can come back onto ebay, create a new account and start all over again.

The seller can simply use a buy it now option with immediate payment required checked off and no best offers.  It's the sellers choice.  Makes sense.

1) Ditch the Auctions. List your items Buy It Now with Immediate Payment Required.

2) If any buyer hasn't paid after 96 hours, cancel those sales citing 'Buyer didn't pay' and add them to your Block Bidder list.

96 hours is 4 days, so file the Cancelation for "buyer didn't pay" on the 5th day.

No you cannot block buyers based on feedback level.

No you are not the only one it is happening to.

eBay really has no way to predict whether a 0 feedback buyer will pay or not.

After three auctions you should have a very good idea of what the market is for your item. If so, I would pick a fixed price and sell it with Immediate Payment Required.

Yes. That's what I meant by "after 96 hours". 96 hours and one second is Day 5.

They give us the option to list as a fixed price with immediate payment required, it works great.

Looking at your sold auctions, most only got one bid so is it worth waiting a week to find out they won't pay.

Have a great day.

There's nothing to report.

On day 5, cancel the order for nonpayment.

Have a great day.

No way to stop it. There used to be. eBay doesn't care. Try messaging the person if they intend to pay. If no response in a day relist the item then cancel that unpaid order as soon as you can.

Happens to me allllll the time.

@njcarpetbagger

Never relist an item before the original transaction has been cancelled. eBay buyers have four days to pay for a purchase. If you relist the item and then the buyer pays, it could cause all kinds of problems.

@menmichef

Do not follow the above advice. Wait until the option to cancel for nonpayment appears and use that feature.

Honestly I think it is the seller's option to relist if they are not getting an answer from a zero feedback buyer on paying. If you don't get an answer on payment then you can pretty much assume you won't be paid. I'm not going to sit around and waste time waiting for payment. If I list something as buy it now I can cancel if needed and if I list something as an auction I can also cancel it. I am just saying it is what I do and it is an option. 90% of the time a zero feedback buyer does not pay.

You guarantee they will not get an unpaid item strike and will not be penalized in any way if you don't wait and cancel for the right reason.  You also jeopardize your own account health no matter which option you select because a pattern of cancellations will get you in trouble with eBay, even if you select Buyer Requested or Problem with Address.

There are three reasons a seller can cancel a transaction before time runs out for the buyer to pay:

  1. Buyer requested cancellation (which does not apply in this scenario)
  2. Problem with buyer's address (which also does not apply in this scenario)
  3. The item is out of stock or damaged (which also does not apply in this scenario)

So what reason are you selecting to cancel the sale, because none of the above is a legitimate reason for this situation?

You say it's an option, but it isn't, since what you're suggesting is an inappropriate use of the cancellation feature.
