Today I was notified by eBay that a buyer had filed a claim of non-receipt on a package that I shipped to them way back on Nov. 19 of 2020. The payment had been made via eBay Managed Payments, and I also paid for shipping via Managed Payments. Ebay is telling me that I have to provide a Valid Tracking number on the package, or I will lose the claim. Of course, eBay is no longer even showing the Tracking Number anymore because the transaction is so old. And even if they did, I don't think that the USPS.COM website would even show valid Tracking info because it's so old. Ebay is also telling me that if I attempt to dispute the claim and I lose the case, not only will eBay extract every single dime of the original payment, they will also sock me with a $20 dispute fee on top of it all. Any suggestions?
This really makes me irate. So what eBay seems to be saying is that all that scammers need to do is wait 120+ days to file a claim on purchases via their credit card, and then sellers will be forced to provide refunds, because any valid Tracking info will have vanished by then. Any advice on this is greatly appreciated.

ALWAYS keep your own copies of tracking numbers (and pictures, too.) Never depend on an undependable source to help you.
USPS keeps tracking numbers for 4 to 6 months.

I have it set up that I get emails when I purchase labels through Ebay and those emails include the USPS tracking number. I don't recall how to set up that notification but just look around or Google the question. I keep emails for about 3 years.
