Hi,
I listed two items last week - iPad and Macbook Pro. BOTH listed were finalized with hacked and/or fake accounts. I've been selling my unused tech items on eBay since 2001, and it seems that the scammers are more prevalent now than ever before. Waiting eight days to relist the item when the account was a "0" rating and clearly isn't real is a real inconvenience, and is going to cost me being able to get the most for my product from my "second chance offer" options that are most likely real people.
What do most do here? Do I just have to wait? Can't eBay look at account activity and see if the account is fake?

Can't eBay look at account activity and see if the account is fake?
What is the difference between a "fake" account and a new account that has no history?
If the difference is that the "fake" account has multiple unpaid item strikes, then you can block that account from bidding or buying by adjusting your Buyer Requirements.

Or you can avoid unpaid item issues entirely by using fixed price listings with immediate payment required, and by not accepting or making offers.

Thanks for the info! I sent the Buyer requirements up, that's exactly what I was looking for and couldn't find. I asked eBay customer service if requirements like that were available and they told me no...

You are welcome.
You can block buyers with multiple unpaid item strikes in the last year.
However, you cannot block buyers simply because they have no feedback -- the settings on that page will block such buyers from making multiple purchases from you, but you will not be able to limit single purchases from low feedback buyers, aside from buyers with feedback less than zero (which is quite rare, since only sellers can receive negative feedback).

I would search the 38,000 iPads that have sold on eBay in the last 90 days, figure out what the market value of mine was, and list it at fixed price with immediate payment required.

I feel your frustration... I am having the same problem. Why can't eBay give us the option to block buyers with 0 ratings? I am tired of the waste of my time by having to file a nonpayment claim, wait 4 days, then list the item again. What are the ramifications of just canceling the sale after 2 days?

I listed a motorcycle for sale twice now and both winners claimed they never made any bids. Called eBay and they tried to transfer me to eBay motors and could not get through. Said they would call and 30hours later… nothing. I think there has been another serious breach once again at eBay .they owe me listing charges . They are showing the same bike sold twice.

Did you open UPI/NPB against both non payers to get your fee's back ?
If not, eBay has no way of knowing the transaction was not completed and you won't get your fee's back as they consider it sold (yes, twice)

eBay Motors works differently. I don't think that the fees are refundable.
