No IDVerify any more ?? I want my money back.

Well, to start,  I was one of the first to jump on board Verifyid or was it IdVerify when Ebay started it.  I paid the minimal fee $10 to receive a letter in the mail,  sign some paperwork and mail it back in.  That was 20 or so years ago, and I have been conducting business on Ebay since then,  actually since 1998 under this user id , and 1997 under another.  So now, they want my drivers license, or some other thing to verify that I am, who they know that I am,  and am still the one that has been paying his bill to them every month,  256 months to be exact, for a long long time.

Is there no common sense ??, or do we need to show up at the Ebay offices and dig thru the old digital files ourselves.  EBAY : you already know who I am,  accept the risk management issue,  and confirm to your new financial managers that I am who you think I am.  Dumb as  ses.

Managed payments is a different company, different entity, different time and are required to get 'fresh' identities when first signing up. Just the way it is.

Imagine what members would say if Ebay didn't do this and then their accounts were not set up correctly and their money was delayed or given to someone else.

Re: No IDVerify any more ?? I want my money back.

I have been selling for almost 20 years.

I opted into Managed Payments back in October 2018.  All that was required then was a bank routing number, and I had to change my ebay registered name to match my checking account name.

Fast forward to 2020, and MP asked for photos of my driver's license, bank statement, and a cancelled check.  Took a few minutes to scan and then upload to MP.  Done.

Imagine if eBay decided to do what PayPal does to make things simple.  Two small ACH transfers that the user has to verify.

To print/scan and email can be done in 10 minutes. Deposits take a day to receive and then communicate.

They didn't, so we have to deal with what is before us.  Wishful thinking isn't going to resolve anything.  We have to deal with what is here and now.

I get it.  I too think the process could have and should have been simpler, but it wasn't so we must deal with it as it is.

I can't fix the information I think eBay is unhappy about that they won't confirm.  My bank in my area is closed too late for the deadline.  Can't fix over the phone or online.  eBay won't be getting their dirty little hands on my bank login credentials or my primary business account.

As I've explained several times, Ebay does NOT get access to your bank login information.  The process will tell you that and I've provided you with the link to the terms from the company that does process that info.

But if you are still uncomfortable, just do what I did.  When I got done, I changed my password on my online banking.  Problem solved in, oh about 10 seconds.

Re: No IDVerify any more ?? I want my money back.

I don't recall having any of these issues, I simply opted in and that was it...

I may have had to enter the bank's information, granted it is a business account if that makes any difference but I can also tell you... In the years I have been with ebay I knew right away this managed payments was going to become permanent the INSTANT they made it available or shortly thereafter.

And I can also tell you that when I know they are going to make something permanent it is best to jump on early...

So tell me again, why did you wait until now?

You can tell me about it a million times.  eBay can make their claim a billion times.  That is not how things work.  I am not logging into my bank on my bank's website when I do that.  I am logging into my bank on eBay.com through the third party service they have jammed into their page.  Between keyloggers and scripts it doesn't take much to compromise information.  Also my banks have never even heard of "PayWithMyBank" over the dozen people I have talked to.

@koohaj_0

You took my words right out of my mouth... except mine is a personal account. Easy peasy.

I knew right away, too... and I'm so glad I jumped on early. Lucky ducky.

Re: No IDVerify any more ?? I want my money back.

All I can tell you is if this is an issue with paranoia then most likely the new way of doing business online is not for you.  I have seen this paranoia off and on over the years, it is behind every seller who instantly removes any balance from their paypal because they're afraid somehow paypal is going to steal their money...

If that's not it then it's financial instability or the politically correct term, financial irresponsibility.

I regularly kept sums of four and five figures in my paypal account when that was the preferred method of payment, today my business account also approaches five digits and it is not at all unusual to me, also I am quite simply not afraid that some grinning little gnomes are going to come in all stealthy in the middle of the night and heist away with MY MONEY!!!

That just doesn't bother me, I don't even have bad dreams in that regard.

Perhaps that is why I didn't have any problems setting up managed payments?

I don't know the answers, why some folks are struggling here...

But I can tell you the easy way is not to try any circumfinancianavigational methods...

Just do it exactly the way they ask, first choice, link bank to ebay and keep it simple and easy.

That is interesting.  I wasn't required to give PayWIthMyBank access to my computer.  That is news to me.  Unless they have access to my computer they can't install a keylogger or scripts.  I wasn't required to download anything either from them.

I have no answer as to why your bank may not have been aware of them.  IDK if my bank was aware of them.  I never asked.  I just explained to my bank what I was doing and what was being asked of me.  After a little discussion they knew what I was talking about and after a security check by my bank to make sure I was who I said I was they gave me an authorization code.

I entered that.  The next screen has only one of my accounts showing on it and it was the one I attached to MP.  I was asked to verify that was the proper account.  I said yes and I was done.  And as I said before, just to be extra safe, I went and changed my online banking password.

It looks like I forgot to get that last screen shot.  But all it had was the last 4 digits of the bank acct number I attached to MP and it asked me if it was correct.  I hit enter and I was done.
