No Cover Photo Option

Hi all, thanks for any direction here. There is no cover photo option in my "Edit Profile" section. How can I add a cover photo?

I thought a member's Community avatar was supposed to be populated from their marketing platform avatar; however, yours clearly isn't doing that.

I believe that is what @clutterbugcutter is asking about. Those avatars are added or removed in the profile area of the marketing platform and are supposed to populate our Community profiles. The OP has an avatar on his/her marketing platform profile, but it doesn't show up in the Community.

If the ebay avatar photo was added recently maybe try logging out of the community and ebay then log back in.

Hey @clutterbugcutter - that seller has an eBay store subscription. The "cover photo" you're referring to is a banner.

Do you have a selling account? The ID you're posting with appears to be a buying ID exclusively. If you do have a selling account, and if you have a store subscription, you can edit your marketing banner on this page: https://www.ebay.com/sh/str/edit

You can probably cancel that nicole@ebay. If the question was why is an avatar appearing on their profile page but not the community and the person had just uploaded a new avatar, the answer is they have to log out of community specifically (not just eBay.com) and log back in as someone noted in post 7 above.

But this question is about the store marketing banner - info is provided in my above post to the OP. They can only access that banner if they have a selling account with an eBay Store subscription.

I can't speak to what exactly the OP was looking for, but I have no option to add a Cover Photo to my ebay profile, as outlined here:

Where it says:

Your eBay profile is a great place to share information about yourself and the items you sell. We’ll add basic info such as your username and recent feedback, but you can customize your profile with images and text to stand out from your competitors.

You can access your profile page on desktop by selecting your username at the top of most eBay pages. If you’re using the mobile app, select My eBay then tap your username. 

How to customize your profile

You can add custom content to your profile, including images and text, to give buyers a better idea of what your business is about.

To customize your profile page, you'll need to open it on desktop and then select Edit profile under your username. You can then make the following changes:

• Cover photo – Select Add cover to upload a cover image. Select Click to reposition and then save to place it exactly where you want
• Profile picture – Select the pencil icon in the corner of your profile picture to add or update your picture
• Text description – Click within the text description box to add or update your text description

Once you’re happy with the updates, select Done editing to save your changes.

This help page is referring to one's ebay profile, it says nothing about an ebay store or a subscription to anything. Here's what it looks like when I click the Edit Profile button.

The pencil icon is on my Profile Picture, which I can change, and there is also a text box for editing my Text Description, which I can also change. The only thing I don't have an option for is my Cover Photo. Furthermore, I used to have a cover photo on my profile years ago, not sure what happened to it, maybe gone because of a platform update or something, not sure but I never removed it, I just recently realized it wasn't there anymore.  Also never had an ebay store or been subbed to ebay. I have however sold 159 items over 9 years, so yes I do have a seller account.

There used to be a pencil icon in both the circle profile image AND on the far right above the 'save' button. to add/ edit cover photo / banner. I want to add a new cover photo and there's no option. This is a huge drawback when buyers open up your actual store and see something lacking competitor sellers may have over you. 

This is mind boggling there is no explanation for this? If eBay is being greedy now and we need a silly 'subscription' for this extra perk- at least someone just to confirm this is the case. So I can get over it and move on. (And never get the stupid subscription). 

Been selling since 2004 so this truly unacceptable. 20 years later and all of a sudden no cover photo/ banner for thousands of sellers and no explanation? Get it together. Also why is so many so clueless about this and need to lose our breaths just trying to explain what a cover photo is.

PLEASE CONFIRM!!!
