No Contact with buyers even if they ask for help with an e-bay Item.

What you see are the extact e-mails and responses. So now you can not tell an e-bay customer that you have the item they want even when listed on e-bay for sale. And all the e-mails are being sent through the e-bay system.

Good luck to all and remember we do have some power to fight this as, we own all the goods sold on fee-bay.  E-bay was once a good site as all of us who have been around awhile remember but it gets worst every year.  I have 40,000 item listed on over 5 different sites with only a few 1000 listed here. this is years of work and I will not let e-bay destory it.  My sales here keep droping and when I do not make money I will leave but my items will remain for sale on many other sites.

@*help_no_brakes*  It doesn't matter if the OP is the seller or the buyer. The person who asks could just as easily click "see sellers other items". No need to message the seller. If the seller has it listed then it is for sale. If it is not listed then it is not for sale.

I have tons of stuff not listed that are for sale. It just depends on whether or not there is exposure at the time for auctions. If I notice low exposure, I wait a week.

True, you and 100% of every seller on Ebay has "something" sitting around they could sell. If it is listed, it is for sale, if it is not listed it is not for sale. This is not CL, it's Ebay. No need to ask a seller what they have sitting round their house for sale.

"No need to ask a seller what they have sitting round their house for sale."

There is reason.  Seller lists items.  I win an item.  Other items I saw don't sell.  I'm curious.  I say hmmmmmmm.  I wonder.  Item available?  Let nature take its course.

If it is available and the seller wants to sell it, the seller will list it.  Personally I would be offended by people asking me if I have things for sale that are not listed. It is none of their business what I have sitting around my house.

I get questions like that fairly often.  Do you have any xxx in this pattern or any more of that?

Sometimes I do.  Sometimes I don't, but I might be able to get my hands on some real quickly through my connections.  It might be at the B&M shop too.  Sometimes I get my hands on them slowly but let them know I'll keep my eyes out.

It's resulted in many sales.  I'm not offended 😃

Seriously?

I have had so many potential customers email me to see if I had product I couldn't count them.

Not only that the product line we have and used to sell is an extension of these very questions and requests.

Folks see we had organic barley...then asked if we had the flour...we introduced it.

Not all folks selling are just sitting here with free time to list goods. I have many many goods that could be listed.  If tomorrow a customer contacted me asking for tweleve 8"  "plum" colored beeswax candles I would tell them most likely I would and we would have them ready by Tuesday. I ask them to save me and watch for the new listing and also that I will also contact them with the info once listed.

I am absolutely confident that in the past 8 years selling here this type of communication has resulted in well over $10,000 in sales if not closer to $30,000 considering that many of the goods folks reached about,  we continued to stock and sell.

It seems to be only certain words that trigger it, as I've had a couple of message exchanges with potential buyers in the past couple of weeks and haven't been flagged for anything, but those exchanges were about the weight of a pair of earrings and whether or not I would be willing to ship to Australia.

I can't even begin to tell you how many extra sales eBay and I made from questions exactly like that. Remember private listings?

That's just not logical. Are you here to make money or avoid making money?

Well, if they got rid of Can'tSeeMe and fixed the search, everyone's sales would go up...meaning ebay would make lots more money.  And sellers would be more successful here too.

Something they should think about.  And stop using "artificial intelligence;" it isn't nearly as effective as the real thing.  upside_down

@thenobletuckylife

It sounds like you have a flawed business plan. As Ebay is a different type of selling platform that does not go with the way you seem to run your business. With all those customer requests and all those sells generated by them, have you thought about opening your own website where you can interact and make and sell product specifically as requested from your customers. You would not only gain customers, but also profit to a greater extent without having to pay fees to a middleman. Ebay is not designed for interaction and your business seems to have a need for it.

I totally agree with you.  I cannot believe eBay is shooting itself in the foot like this (with us in the cross fire).  If eBay finds sellers who are selling off site, kick them to the curb, and let the rest of us make eBay sales!
