Good afternoon Gentlemen,
I had a customer message me with a question on one of my listings. When I checked the listing it was showing Next day delivery but delivery on Feb 19 and today is Feb 11. When I click Edit and double check my shipping setting it shows what I normally select, Ground advantage (2-5 day service) ... pics below.
So my question is this, because I am in the same zip code as the item location will I see the Next day delivery or is this a glitch in eBay's system??? I do not recall seeing the "next day delivery" before and it is in green on the pic below. Here is the item number if you want to check it out. 335804983321

Hey @mr_lincoln! I do believe that you are seeing "Next Day Delivery" based off of being in the same zip code as the item. When I went to take a look at the item, I do not show that as an option based off of my zip code location.

Just a thought...it's an auction that ends in 5 days...so the shipping time will be in 5 days from Feb 16...with 2-5 business days...begining on Fed. 17th a business day.

Hi devon@ebay .
1. I agree the message is appearing because of location, but
2. It's confusing to the buyer since directly below it says delivery by Feb 19. Next day (tomorrow) is Feb 12. In reality eBay is providing an EDD of Feb 12 - Feb 19 but it's not at all clear to the buyer. Edit: Strike that part as it's auction format.
3. Ground Adv advertises 2-5 days. Next day isn't possible.
4. Why the heck doesn't eBay show handling time on the shipping pop up for auctions - only fixed price?
(Also kyle@ebay I am going out of my mind with no quantity on that shipping pop-up! I was trying to help a seller yesterday with shipping questions and couldn't see what I needed to see without being able to change quantity. We've been going 'round on this for years - last update you said the team was getting a large amount of feedback on it - any chance the product team will be adding it back??)
What is your handling time on that auction @mr_lincoln ? Or rather - what's your "historical" handling time? Do you typically ship next day?

One day Handling and on some rare occasions I ship same day if the sales comes in early in the day. Not sure what eBay has for my historical shipping time.

Good point, I will try checking the listing each day until the auction ends ...

devon@ebay Thank you ...

Could be, and just to note Feb 17th is not a USPS shipping business day.

Oops....February 17th is a holiday also...

That was a great spot @12345jamesstamps about auction format & listing end date. While Feb 17th is not a business day (USPS closed for Presidents Day), I believe the auction format is the answer to the "why" here.
Listing ends Sun Feb 16th. Seller traditionally ships next day which, because PO is closed the 17th, means he's shipping Tues Feb 18th. And eBay is showing a super unrealistic EDD of 1 day - Feb 19th.
This message should never appear on an auction format listing devon@ebay , in addition next day delivery should never appear with Ground Adv service.
Do you require auto-pay on auctions @mr_lincoln ? If you don't, that's yet another reason the message is misleading because you'd be allowing your buyers more time to pay which means the ship date is unknowable.
My Ground Adv packages to zone 1 are mostly taking 3 days to arrive, occasionally 2 or 4 days, never 1 day. Never.

USPS has posted that some changes are being made (may already have been made) on the handling of some mail based upon origin/destination proximity.
02-11-2025 02:37 PM
Yeah, they're slowing everything down even more.
02-11-2025 04:32 PM
My Auto-pay is turned OFF ...
I agree that the "next day delivery" should not be shown on a GA shipping setting.
02-11-2025 04:40 PM
Well yes, but some talk of, in some areas that "more local mail" will in some areas be processed "more locally", but then the idea that eBay would pick up on that rapidly seems illogical.

Hey @wastingtime101 thanks for checking in. I don't know what the chances are, to be honest. But I'm glad to keep passing along the feedback to request it!
