Good Day,
I'm hoping someone may have some feedback on the following situation.
I recently sold a pair of shoes and the buyer has requested a refund. This now shows as a refund
request in under "My Ebay".
The buyer admitted they accidentally bought the wrong size shoes for their nephew.
I don't accept returns.
Ebay sent me a message saying I'm not obligated to accept the return.
Paypal however has deducted the amount.
Shoes aren't cheap to mail and I included free shipping with the item as part of its purchase price.
I see there is an option under the refund process to accept the return and the buyer returns shoes at their
cost.
Do you think this is the best way to handle this?
I'm a new seller, new to ebay, can't afford to pay for their return shipping for their mistake.
Can the buyer still leave me negative feedback even though the purchase was their mistake?

Since you don't take returns, you can deny the return because it's a remorse return.
If you decide to accept the return, the buyer would pay to ship the shoes back and you could refund the price of the shoes only.
If they had claimed something was wrong with the item, you would have to accept the return and pay for return shipping.

The PP put a hold on the funds.They will be released when you resolve the request

Make sure you respond to the case. If you don't want to accept the return. Once you decline the hold on the payment in paypal should be released. back into your account You should see that it says something like transaction pending when you look at it in paypal.

That’s not quite correct. When shipping is “free” it can’t be deducted from the original purchase price while issuing a refund.

My advice start accepting returns. It will give you more options on how to deal with wrong buyer. Now like others say you are stuck with all. And have to pay postage to get your shoes back. On e bay it is set up a no win. The most annoying thing is e bay putting the hold on the money in your pay pal. And the deal e bays got with pay pal to slap holds on money. After its been paid and before. Its happened to me 4 or 5 times now. After I pay the return postage only 1 did not send back what I sent. E bays rules are not set up for no returns. The buyer will win in the end. Almost all the time. I hope you the very best in the future. That this never happens to you again.

The shoes were sent with free shipping. If memory serves, postage can not be withheld from a refund when free shipping is used for the original transaction.
Ya, I forgot they mentioned they had free shipping.

Actually, the OP's NO RETURN policy has worked in their favor this time. They have a buyer that actually told the truth about wanting to return , that is NOT snad selection or an outright lie to get prepaid return shipping. The seller has the opportunity to decline the return...imagine that....
Sure, the buyer can go to the Pal, but the seller will Not have to fund return shipping regardless of the reason presented.

Keep in mind that No Returns does not mean No Refunds.
With the sole exception of cases where the buyer admits this is a Remorse dispute, you make refunds.
And if the buyer returns the item, you still refund.
The only question is: who pays for the return shipping?

I was going to say much the same thing. The money is going back to the buyer. The only question is whether the seller wants the shoes back first. It's fine to have a No Returns policy, but the reality is that you can't have a No Refunds policy, and the two are not the same thing. As was mentioned above, you might as well have a Return policy, as it gives you a bit more flexibility, and at least the buyer has to make the effort of shipping the item back first.
